I jusy bought a wireless Broadband router and card to hook up to the boys' computer to the internet.

What does this mean for online gaming. I have both a ps2 and an xbox.

I think Linksys has a wireless thing-a-majig that will hook up to the back of your ps2 or xbox and it should communicate with your router

Try to avoid LInksys. My gf and I bought it and could never get it to work, even with a technicians help. We tried D-Link and got it working with no problems. Her brother bought the Linksys last night and we spent all night trying to get it to work. It looks like he's going to have to do the same thing. A friend of ours came over to look at it and said she originally bought that one too, but bought a different brand at a Sams (sorry I don't remember what it was called).

Bottom line, I'd avoid Linksys if possible.

Good thread. Here's what I want to do:

I have an Apple G5 and a Dell.

    * I want to network them so I can play games against each other.

    * I want to be able to get on the internet with both.

    * I'd like to be able to print pics from both (primarily the Apple).

The Apple will remain my main computer but the Dell will see a lot of action. They'll be in the same room for now so I don't need to go wireless necessarily.

    A. What items do I need to buy to be able to do what I need?

    B. How much can I expect to spend?

and even with a few bugs in the firmware that Linksys has been having in the last year, I would still recommend them over Dlink or NEtgear.

Linksys is owned by the biggest dog in the router business....Cisco.

I actually got have the Linsky G Wireless Broadband Router and PCI card. I didn't get the speed boster because it sounded like a lot of hogwash to me. "35% faster"...than what??!

    Anyways, I'll be looking for the "G" Game Adapter...I can't wait!!!:D

For me and a lot of my family and friends, Linksys has proved to be the best wireless equipment around. I dont think I've ever had to call Linksys for problems hooking up the equipment and getting it to work. It is basically plug and play.

Ive had problems with D-Link and Netgear and have spent hours with their Technical Support. Ive had to adjust settings and whatnot to get the product to work.

You pay more with Linksys because you can expect a better quality product and one that I would say is the MOST user-friendly home networking equipment out there.
