Geez I go out of town for a few days, and come back to al this nonsense.. I can't even bring myself to slog through most of these threads and posts arguing about 'Steve said this..' and 'Steve said that..' All I know is this: The Rockets will be a better team this coming year than they were last year. Steve will once again be our best player, there will be about 20 times more interest in the team than there was, and I believe we will make the playoffs. Nothing can wash the stink off a team like winning. Everybody who is panicking about this team now because of what one headstrong player, with his own thoughts and opinions, said in an interview, is gonna look back and feel pretty silly when this team is fighting for the home-court for the first round of the playoffs instead of sitting at home dreaming about it. So francis popped off, and may disagree somewhat with team management. So what? Not the first time an NBA player has done that, certainly won't be the last. Anybody remember a guy named Hakeem, who, prior to the the 2 championship years here, was widely regarded as selfish and highly critical of the franchise's decisions and ethics? I for one can hardly wait for the season to start. Would I like to see everybody on the team be all happy-happy-joy-joy with each other? Sure. Does it tear me up inside to think that they may sometimes disagree? Not really. Just means they are strong-willed people.. rather have that on the team than a bunch of wilting wallflowers any day. Just relax and root for your team, no matter what warts you may see. Ciao
Actually we need to level our thinking. Those in favor of Steve think he can do no wrong. Those against Steve look for the very worse. I believe that there is a middle ground. Steve is very good but needs to pass more. Steve also should think before he says things that he might regret later. Imo Steve is excellent but he does need to put the team 1st. He has too much me me me about him. He needs to change that. Also Steve is not the perfect pg, he does need to improve his passing. Steve would be the perfect sg and excell at that position, but at the moment we really don't have anyone better. So in conclusion Steve is not perfect but he isn't a jerk either.
I never meant to imply that Steve can do no wrong but to pile like some folks do is just ridiculous. Steve will make a statement and then it is reported out of context and then the wheels come off the cart. Steve is not perfect but he is better than most. His 1st 2 years everybody wanted him to shoot more. He is still young and is learning when to take over a game and when to get your teamates involved. Our offense was so bad last year that he WAS the 1st option, Cat was #2, then repeat steps one and two. Now he is getting more quality scorers around him and they ( the entire team) needs time to jell and become a unit.
