Winning Formula: Rockets - Eddie Griffin = Better Team

Notice the last 2 games without the presence of Eddie Griffin, the Rockets actually become better off. It seems quite clear that Cato at PF fits great with Yao as Center.

From the Houston Chronicle, October 17:

"We need to surround our best two players, Yao and Steve, with dependable, reliable, tough-minded, good-shooting, smart players," Van Gundy said. "If we do that ... we'll have a heck of a year.

Eddie Griffin just can't achieve the above. EG is just too immature. Last year he got busted for drug possession, now having to go to court. He also thinks he's a Vietnam War veteran or something, by playing MIA (missing in action), putting personal interest ahead of the team. He lacks of personal growth and accountability. He even also was AWOL for one game last season, reportedly offering up an initial excuse that involved his dog!

I say, trade his a$$ elsewhere. It was a huge mistake the Rockets traded three first-round draft choices to New Jersey in 2001 for a piece of junk.

Obviously most of his problems seem to by psyche issues. Just look at Bokie in last nights game. He was hesitating and doing some stupid mistakes, then Van Gundy tells him to shoot or get off the floor. Bam, 3 threes in a row.

Griffin is in his early 20's and already has a kid. As stated before in a different post, this probably has to do with the "personal problems" that he had to take care of.

Trading him will not help this team. I think the best thing we can do is make him a 12th man, so he can tone his skills and gain some confidence. Just let him grow up some.

If we don't want him then who else would? He'll have to start playing semi-decent and show some discipline before other GM's even consider getting off the sideline and make a pitch for him. That's why I was advocating all of last year to trade him. But right now we might as well hold on to him for a bit.
