I just reinstalled Media Center and I tried to to a Windows Update because I had 72 updates available. It downloads all of them, but when they try to install, all of the fail...

    I hate windows...

any ideas how to fix this...?

Try doing the urgent system updates first...then do the rest. When you try to do all of them at the same time you can end up having some problems if they are both hardware and software updates that it is doing.

Does it give you any type of error message with it or just fail when it goes to the completed page?

    Try ONE by ONE.

Your PC saves that ONE update, then it runs it. If it fails, it gets deleted. Can you do a system restore to the last time your machine asked to do all those updates? Why do you have 72, man? Do you forget to do it or is the person who's in charge out on vacation?

Try writing down the name of one you try. If that works, cross it out your list.

I ran MS update a few days ago when I reformatted. I simply just closed it and tried downloading them again, that worked.

are you using a user account with the necessary permissions to install things?

I haven't used anything but the Pro versions of both XP and Vista, but that should still be a factor even in MCE.
