I am looking to get a copy of Windows XP new but I cant seem to find anything in stores, or on Amazon/New Egg. Is it still possible to purchase new copies of XP without having to pay outrageous prices?

    Thanks in advance

I'm surprised you can't even buy them used? It seems you can buy literally everything used these days.

Anyway, as Real Shady said, there are other ways to get it. You don't even have to pay. Not technically legal though.

I don't think Microsoft would care anymore if you got your hands on XP in ways that other posters are implying.

Why go back to XP? Windows 7 is pretty much the best operating system Microsoft has put out imo.

I had to Google what 'buy' meant. Now that I understand i'm even more confused as to why you would want to do such a thing...

Supposedly, you can use a Windows Vista key for XP. Not 100% sure and a quick google search didn't confirm this immediately. So...you might want to research this a little more...but I've heard from different (word-of-mouth) sources that it was possible.

I just refuse to move on to W7 or Vista. I dont know I guess I dont prefer change. I want to downgrade my new laptop

I have tried the "alternative" method before, but that generally leads to problems all the time... (trojans, viruses, data logging...etc) I just dont trust it.
