I have Windows 98 1st edition on my computer right now. I have a copy of Windows XP Professional I would like to put on my computer instead of Windows 98. I would like to reformat then install Windows XP. Can anybody give me instructions or a link to instructions on how to do this. Basically I want to reformat my hard drive then put a newer OS on my computer. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.:)

Just boot the PC from the Windows XP CD. You can reformat the disk from the text-mode portion of Windows XP Setup...

    Tip: Choose "Quick Format".

How old is your machine? WinXP is a little more hardware intensive than Windows 98.

Like x34 said you can do everything from the setup.

If you don't have a bootable CD-ROM you can build a boot disk here.
