Windhorst: Houston, Cleveland possible Ben Simmons locations after buyout

Forget about him.

 

As a buyout candidate to be the Rockets backup point guard and spot starter with VanVleet hurt, I’d be all for bringing Ben Simmons in for the rest of this season.

 

Getting him on a buyout is cool with me. We need the PG depth.

 

if it’s free it’s me. Simmons is not a bad teammate.

 

Simmons has excellent court vision yo go with his strong defence.

As long as we don't want him to try score in any kind of way....

So if we get him, it really will be the Harden for Ben Simmons trade that was talked about….it just took about 5 years to complete.

On a vet min deal - he is a very good get if we can get him. Fits the defensive culture, low expectations for him here - he doesn't even have to be a reclamation project to be successful here - just play hard. Udoka doesn't even care if the ball doesn't go in the hoop as long as you are playing the right way. On the other hand, Udoka may break Simmons with honesty but on a vet min deal, the reward far outweighs the risk.
