The best way to objectively measure player value irrespective of position is through win shares. Harden had the 4th highest win shares in the league. And he was top 6 in win shares per 48 minutes. Not used to making threads, but since I been seeing a lot hate lately, I figure I post this. http://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/ws_top_10.html
Win shares in a vacuum without using other stats is not a good way to measure a player's value. Its not a bad stat but you should not use it by itself. As good as Pau Gasol was in 10 for example he certainly was nowhere near the 3rd most valuable player in the league. Not to mention winshares measures defense very poorly due to the fact that defensive rating is a massively faulty stat and defense in general cannot be measured accurately by stats like steals and blocks.
The dude is a stud. He's not Lebron or Durant, but he's a stud, and it's a shame that so many people on here act like he's not.
