The first month of the season has 15 games, from Oct 31st through Nov 28th. Anyone want to venture a guess about the Win-Loss record for these first 15 games? These are the opponents for the first 15 games. For random reference and gloriously irresponsible speculation, I added the opponent's rank given by Stein, and Schuhmann on the right. Oct 31 @ Detroit. Stein 25, Schuhmann 22 Nov 2 @ Atlanta. Stein 18, Schuhmann 15 Nov 3 vs Portland. Stein 21, Schuhmann 23 Nov 7 vs Denver. Stein 9, Schuhmann 14 Nov 9 @ Memphis. Stein 11, Schuhmann 7 Nov 10 vs Detroit. Stein 25, Schuhmann 22 Nov 12 vs Miami. Stein 1, Schuhmann 1 Nov 14 vs New Orleans. Stein 20, Schuhmann 21 Nov 16 @ Portland. Stein 21, Schuhmann 23 Nov 18 @ L.A. Lakers. Stein 2, Schuhmann 3 Nov 19 @ Utah. Stein 16, Schuhmann 17 Nov 21 vs Chicago. Stein 15, Schuhmann 12 Nov 23 vs New York. Stein 13, Schuhmann 11 Nov 27 vs Toronto. Stein 23, Schuhmann 20 Nov 28 @ Oklahoma City. Stein 3, Schuhmann 2
It's genuinely difficult to predict our record this season. I honestly have no idea how we are going to be. We could be really really bad, or we could be a fighter in every game like years past. The first 15 games will be very interesting.
I would say the first 30 games are the most crucial to determine what path the team will take. If Rockets are within the striking distance of playoff seeding (6th-9th), Morey will make major trades to improve our chances. If we suck after 30 games, KMart is as good as gone. Morey will trade him to a contender, play all our rookies, and tank for the rest of the season.
I don't think Hollinger's team rankings are out yet. Otherwise, I would have added them to the schedule.
1. Toss up, slight edge to Detroit since its a home game. 2. Atlanta. 3. Rockets. 4. Denver. 5. Memphis 6. Rockets 7. Miami 8. Rockets 9. Portland 10. Lakers 11. Utah 12. Chicago 13. New York 14. Rockets 15. OKC Add in 1-2 upsets and I say around 6/9.
Oct 31 @ Detroit - Nov 2 @ Atlanta - Nov 3 vs Portland - Nov 7 vs Denver - Nov 9 @ Memphis - Nov 10 vs Detroit - Nov 12 vs Miami - Nov 14 vs New Orleans - Nov 16 @ Portland - Nov 18 @ L.A. Lakers - Nov 19 @ Utah - Nov 21 vs Chicago - Nov 23 vs New York - Nov 27 vs Toronto - Nov 28 @ Oklahoma City - I say 8-7
I'm agreeing with 4-11. That schedule is pretty tough. We have almost all new starters. It's going to be rough...
6 wins will be respectable, and might be possible if the team gels in quickly. McHale will have to guide them, and be patient.
