What do you think of Cuban going after Willis? Mavs need someone to bang, grab boards, enforce, and mentor the young kids/
I think Willis should sign with the Kings or the Mavs. The Mavs would be ideal for him because they are contenders who could really use his inside presence. He could be a low post scorer for them and some muscle under the basket. If he wants to trade the size of his role for a better chance at winning the championship, he should go to the Kings who could have really used him in Game 6. He'd only get a few minutes a game but could really help on Shaq. Finally, if he wants to trade even more of his role away, he could sign with the Lakers where he could sit and watch Shaq.
Willis was just interviewed on the radio, and he said if he does not resign with the Rockets he is looking at the Atlanta Hawks to "bring things full circle."
Best of luck to Kevin if he doesn't re-sign. I personally wouldn't mind seeing him go to the Mavs or Kings to give them added depth at 4/5.
I just wish we had traded him before the trade deadline, as I had suggested, to Boston. We might've gotten Joe Johnson, but we definitely would've gotten their #1 pick at #22. That would've given us a choice of Casey Jacobsen, Tayshaun Prince, Nenad Krstic, Frank Williams, John Salmons, Chris Jeffries, etc. etc....... Or, we could've traded up two spots & had a choice of Kareem Rush or Qyntel Woods. Oh well. Orlando would be a good place for him to land.
At the time, Boston was looking for some beef up front to make their playoff push. I don't really think we would've gotten Johnson, but I do believe that we would've gotten the #22 pick in the draft. Willis can still score down low.
I read where the Bulls were interested in him to come in and have a positive influance with the young players and help them out. They can afford to pay him on a l year contract as they have the room.
Seriously, I wish Willis the best...but right now, he'd be more valuable to the Rockets for the experience he can teach Ming than actual playing ability at his stage in the game.
