This could be the start of something .....with Everett nursing the sore hammy, looks like Willie will leadoff. Mabe this is one of those twists of fate that cements Willie as our leadoff hitter for many years to come.

I know I'll get slapped with "it is too early", but after 12+ games, you gotta appreciate the consistency with his hitting, bunting, and all else...

I hope Willy gets the shot, and I'd really like to see Burke step in at shortstop. He use to play that before moving to 2nd.

and they moved him to 2B because they didn't think he could handle it as a MLB SS.

Consistency? Yeah, that 8 game stretch where he hit .080 was pretty impressive.

It's too early to count him out, too. I hope we're all pleasantly surprised.

Taveras did slump, but he bounced back. That's the most important thing with young guys.

I hope G-d is listening.....Willy as our leadoff hitter is inevitable. Why not make it happen now?

Good observation. During his slump, he mysteriously kept him OBP at 0.333 while Adam who was hitting well during that time (0.297) had only a slightly higher OBP (0.350) during that stretch. That told me that even when Willy struggles, he could still draw walks and get on base where he does most of his damage.

A player like Willy will get into slumps but will get out of it soon enough because of his descent plate discipline and his good hitting form.

He has a career OBP of over 0.360 which is good enough for me though most of his that career stat was in the minors. He will hit descently in the majors because he make-up and career points that way. The biggest question about him was his defense and someone here made mention of it and so far I have not really seen anything in his defense to worry about.

It is not uhuru yet for him but he will do wonders for this team if he maintains a respectable level of those stats at the top of our lineup. One thing is for sure - he will see pitches to hit.

He could be a 5HR, 20 doubles, 10 tripples, 40 steals, 95 Runs guy for us this season. I will take all of that.

Argh. So much for Willy's chance. Looks like Everett is still healthy (good) and batting at top of the order tonight (bad).
