Well I just bought some plane tickets on Priceline, so he must be doing something right.

I likes me some Ben Folds (Five).

    They broke up unfortunately.

Ben got married, had a kid, and moved to Smeggy-land. He was tired of being away from his family. He recorded his last album (in which he played ALL the instruments) from his home in Australia. He still tours but not nearly as much as with BFF.

I've seen BFF 3 times. Those were some AMAZING shows.

    Ima,

I always felt that Darren Jesse was VASTLY underrated. If you watch him, his technique is hideous. However, the stuff he plays is beautiful. Your thoughts?

I have Ben Folds' solo album. It's very good. And actually I haven't heard a lot of the stuff he did with his band, so I should probably check some of that stuff out too.

Me too. You can tell he comes from a jazz background especially when he plays live. But yes, his technique is...well, it LOOKS horrible. I've never seen anyone look so stiff when they play! He looks like a string puppet! But man, does he have some chops!!

m-c, I love his solo album too but you should really check out BFF's first two albums. It sounds like there are 10 people playing and singing but it's just 3 of them. The scary thing is they sound(ed) just like that live. No studio tricks.

not only SmeggyLand but also SmeggyTown.... he can be seen around town quite often (wish he played secret gigs rather than seeing at a coffee shop)

love all his stuff both 5 and after, but yeah completely agree with whoever said it the BFF sound sounded like a massive big band, their live dvds are great
