This really belongs in the Conan thread, but I wanted to make it a poll.

    It's not "retruns", it's:

If I watched live TV at that hour I would watch the Daily Show and The Colbert Report.

I voted, "no I always liked Conan more." But watching the tonight show recently I just can't see how he would have ever succeeded. His humor is geared more towards a younger, hipper crowd, and I'm just not sure how much of a base that really gives him. As I was watching, I just kept thinking my parents or grandparents would not get any of this.

I only started watching late night regularly since Conan took over the tonight show. WHen he goes, so will I. Jay blows, as does Letterman.

You should spend a couple of weeks in a Typo rehab clinic to get over your shame.

Jay Leno should die of gonorrhea and rot in hell.

if anything i watch stewart/colbert, but ill flip over to the conan or letterman if its not interesting. when conan was on later i probably watched him more than i do now, but i have been watching every night the last couple weeks. conan even said last night that his ratings have been up 50%, which is pretty crazy.

i was born in 75 and grew up watching carson, but i never liked leno. no exaggeration - i watched more of the tonight show in conan's 7 months than i did the entire time leno was on. when it was leno/letterman i watched letterman if anything.

I'll watch if Leno and Letterman go at each other. It started to get a little nasty earlier this week but Letterman backed off yesterday.

True, but this kinda HAS to happen in order for a show to continue its life, right? If the tonight show doesn't bring in a younger audience, the show dill die out.

Hosting the Tonight show is a difficult task because it must appeal to an older, loyal audience, yet be fresh enough to pick up new, younger viewers.

Jimmy Kimmel isn't as strong as a show right now because he doesn't have the older viewers; however, his show will just get stronger and stronger as his young audience matures and grows up with him. That's what happened to Letterman, back when Letterman captured the younger audience as the older audience watched Johnny Carson.

I can't understand how anyone can watch Jay Leno. You know the punch lines to his jokes before he even finishes setting the joke up. The guy is not intelligent, creative or funny.

I think Colbert is the smartest man on late night TV so I try to watch him every night but I DVR Conan and watch his monologue once Colbert is over.

I always preferred Conan but had no really problem with Jay. Now I'll make it a point to not watch the Tonight Show as long as Leno is the host.

Yeah, it's almost like the folks who will prefer Conan (like me) will more likely be watching Colbert or actually going on-line or something.

TV demographics overall are aging, yes? It's so static and uninteractive.
