Just curious if anyone things it might be better if Yao doesn't perform the jump ball. He rarely wins it and its just one more thing that can stress his feet.
If one jump ball per game is too much stress for his footsies, he needs to just quit professional basketball.
Winning the jump ball gives neither team an advantage, since both teams get the ball first twice a game. It just means your best jumper is better than the other team's best jumper.
what is the difference between the jump ball and getting a rebound in a crowded paint? sometimes people seem to just throw threads just to talk!
Yes, Yao will do the Jump Ball. It will begin a new dance craze that'll spread like wildfire all around the globe.
Lol, none of our guys can reach very high, despite having a 7'6" center and a PG who can jump 3' in the air. Maybe we tell the ref before the game that the other team can have the ball first if they want, and save everyone from some needless jumping.
Now there's an idea! Joey Crawford would be mad though as he takes pride in his ability to favor one team over the other with the jump ball.
My personal opinion is that Yao should play only in the 2nd and 4th quarters but I am not the coach. If he is locked in at 24 minutes, than I believe the bench is where he needs to be to have consistency in the rotation. Therefore, Brad Miller gets the jump. He is 7'0" but Aaron Brooks can probably jump higher than him. Even that said, he still has a decent reach, and with good timing can help win the tip 20-40% of the time.
Medical staff limited Yao to only jumping 20times a game. We can't waste one on a jump ball that he'll lose anyways
I don't like the jump ball. I hope he chooses to do the Monster Mash instead. He's got the ... um... right build for it, just in time for Halloween!
