the next David Robinson? I always (as did SI) thought he was soft and lacked a certain killer instinct. Ok, ok, I know it's early in his career, but he doesn't take the ball to the hoop with any authority. He's always looking for the call, flopping and flailing. I can't belive for the life of me that he's not working on other aspects of his game, i.e. facing the basket, putting the ball on the floor, etc. I'm starting to think he might be a tad too slow for the NBA.

Yao needs to take the Rockets marketing slogan to heart. "Be Big." He wasn't playing big tonight. I was waiting for him to get pissed off and make a strong move. I think he should have gotten to the line at least some tonight (stupid refs), but that doesn't change the fact that he could and should have been more aggressive. I mean, even Van Gundy gave up on Yao near the end with ISOs for Cuttino and Steve on critical plays.

Joe Barry Carroll was very quick compared to Yao. Yao reminds me of Andre The Giant in the movie "Princess Bride".

Yao needs some form of "legal speed." Maybe five cups of coffee, three chocolate bars, and some Ginseng before games. He looked slooooooooooooooooooooooooow tonight. Maybe JVG could permanently implant tacks in Yao's place on the bench; maybe a cattle prod would work, no too cruel. How about diet pills, no. How about........

Something was definitely wrong with Yao tonight. The D on him wasn't particulary strong. Early on, he got off a lot of good shots and just missed them. Rockets didn't really get him the ball that often underneath so that explains the lack of free throws.

Maybe the pressure on him is playing with his head. I don't think he's too slow. Look at the first Blazers game or the Detroit game. He made really quick moves and played his game and seemed to play faster than his opponents a lot of the time. His inconsistency is just amazing.

I just can’t help it. I am so incensed at Yao right now. Every weakness in his game that he has shown this season was really exposed last night.

I sure as hell hope that after the game, when Yao posts on his message board to give an explanation, that I don’t see him give another one of his “I’m so frustrated” spiels or “I’m tired” or “please be patient with me” or “they kept fouling me”. Boo-freakin-hoo!

The only statement I want to read from Yao is “I’m pissed and I feel sorry for the next player that has to guard me”

You would think that after choking the last game and blowing those FT's he would come out looking to redeem himself. When your team is playing the defending World Champs and reigning MVP, I would think you would come out to play more motivated basketball than the way Yao played.
