Is it possible for Yao to take over STeve's job? As soon as next year? Would you fans go for it? Yao at the helm instead of Steve. Interesting...
While its possible Yao could one day become a captain, it will be as a co-captain to Steve. Rockets are not going to take away Steve's captain status. Why would it matter anyway? PS - We have three captains- Rice, Mobley and Francis
Yao isn't enough of a vocal leader. I don't think Francis really is either. I think it should be Cat (if he's still here) or Rice.
All 3 of them are "Captains". But really.....that doesn't mean anything. Yao can be the leader on the floor...but outside...he can't really make emotional speeches and stuff. He's just a nice guy. But he will become a captain along with Steve and Cuttino and Glen.
Was Yao the captain on the Shanghai sharks? I know he was obviously the best player, but I thought some other guys were the actual team leaders?
you don't really need to be a loud mouth to be a leader. he can lead by example. well, apparently, he uses english in the locker room all the time as its been quoted in news articles. only time he speaks chinese is to the reporters. and also remember after that tough loss to the cavs where steve made a stupid pass that resulted in a turnover, yao was the first one to say to steve don't even worry about it. these type of things happen. also remember after that first clippers loss where steve said he felt like crying, yao told him remember what you told me after my first game against the pacers or something like that. you get the point. his english is better than advertised. he's been a good teammate and his passing already helps lead the team to victory. so it's not like he wouldn't make a good captain.
i think i remember reading an article on how when yao left the shanghai sharks, they didn't just lose their best player, they lost the guy who helped calm them down or lead them to victory. he encouraged his teammates even when they made stupid decisions and couldn't get the ball to him. kinda like what he does now.
Its part of Chinese culture that one of the sons in the family live with, and take care of their parents once he starts working or get married. Since Yao is their only son (due to China's one child policy), he has obligation to do so. Plus his parents is here to help him to adjust and adapt to the American way of life easier. -G'day-
so that's why grandma lived with my family for so long. they passed her on to every one of our relatives until everybody got tired of living with her and put her in a senior citizens home. poor grandma.
Insider what that indicates is the downfall of American civilization. When they wont take care of their own blood and flesh its the beginning of the end.
I'd like to add that only Americans and some Europeans have this odd culture where kids are supposed to MOVE out at some point (we're talking pre-marriage) and are considered to be unsuccesful in life if they don't. It's really weird, it really is. I know there's this notion that "so and so lives with their parents, what a loser", but most of the world is the other way around.
i was just joking about the senior citizen home part. i think she lives with my aunt on social security money or something like that. it's not like they abandoned her. plus she likes being around old people(her own age, she like 80 something) she herself didn't want to be a burden i think. but anyway, i occasionally paid her a visit. i never knew about this tradition even though i'm chinese. i think i read about it in a history book or something. isn't it called filial piety or something like that?
