I truly hope we win our 3rd Championship within 3 years. Because, like Dallas our window will begin to close with Tmac, Yao, Battier, and Atrest gettng older and teams like Portland getting more mature and begin to dominate the Western Conference. The Rockets championship teams were built through the draft (Dream, Horry, Cassell, Maxwell, etc....) This team is being built through trades to accomplish something in a short period of time (i.e, Boston Celtics). My only concern is that we've given up the future with (Gay, Greene, and 2009 1st round pick) who my turn out to be an outstanding pros.
Hopefully we can pick a young stud in 2010 with our capspace. Bosh or Amare in Houston would make me drool...
Don't be so quick to assume we'll keep this group intact over the next three years. Artest is in the last year of his contract and could be a one-year-rental for all we know. Obviously, we all hope that's not the case but my point is we need to swing for the fences right now.
I believe if Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady are both healthy a good amount throughout the season in 2008-2009, the Houston Rockets will be a championship team in 2009 which is year 1, I don't see the rockets being beat as Artest had said before.
Even if greene and gay turn out good, they're not good enough to win a championship, so giving up that future is a moot point.
I picked year 3, meaning that we would win all three years if the core group can stay intact and healthy. Maybe I'm being a bit optimistic, but I get like this, this time of year every year. Go Rockets!!!!
I really feel as if we may win more than one over the next 3 years if we can keep artest after this year. SI.com is already tempted to put us ahead of LA as the No1 team in the west based on their new rankings. Rockets No2
We all saw the Celtic's story. My only concern is the weaknesses we have at the point guard. However, the Celtics were able to overcome the point guard deficiencies because Rondo could finish. I just don't trust Rafer, especailly with the drinking issues, which appear to keep coming up. Would we be willing trade one problem (Rafer), for another Jamal Tinsley.
I don't agree, Alston is just a better shooter, Rondo is more athletic, and he is a better playmaker.
i hope to win a title by the first season, but ill give the first season so everyone can get comfortable with each other.
From the games I had watched last year, I do not think Rondo is better Rafer. Last year, the Rondo gay could make some good plays, but also make many bad plays, he is quick, but not a good shooter, plus they do not have a good back PG too. Overall, I like our PG positions than them after having Ron Artest because Ron would kill Rafer if he is going to make a bad play after another.
lol hell ya, we better have police protection in the building. cause if they don't play right.. Ron's gonna choke a couple of people!!!!!
