There is no doubt that Tracy Mcgrady is a very talented basketball player, and we know he's not Kobe Bryant, but with the skill he has, he probably could be considered a superstar in this league. This year he's got Yao, Ron Artest on this team, and as well as a very deep bench to support this Rockets team. I personally think this year is the year, its almost like now or never. So I'd like to what yall think....
If T-Mac doesn't get a championship in the next two or three years with this Rockets line-up then he probably never will. I don't think it has to be this year, but definitely within the next couple. Next year for example you could see a big pick up in Aaron Brooks/Carl Landry/to some extent Scola's game with no real drop off in Yao/T-Mac/Artest's.
He has to be healthy, that's the only way. Last night Artest bailed him out and I hope he can continue to do so until McGrady's healthy.
I agree, but I'm just worried about Ron Artest contract situation, we know this year is his contract year, and that is another reason we believe he really try to maintain himself under control, but if you look back the history, you would never knew when he's going to blow up. With that being said, even if we can get him on the Rockets for next couple of years, I'm just not sure if hes the Ron Artest we want him to be..
Yes! Now that the Rockets got him some REAL help with Artest, there is no doubt he will win it here and be the Finals MVP.
Yeah, I can see T-Mac getting ring...but with the way Artest and Yao feed off of each other offensively (if they keep it up), the Finals MVP is up for grabs...but let's not get ahead of ourselves yet....first lets win 58 games and get past the first round
I believe at one point in his career T-Mac had more skill than anyone in the league. I believe now he still has more offensive, and even defensive (if he actually puts the effort), talent than almost anyone in the league. He just lost some athleticism, which definitely knocks him down. If he works his way back to full health and better shape (which will be hard to do now that he can't lift weights), I believe he can work his way back to the top, and compete with Kobe and others for a spot in the league's all First-Team. He can do it, and nothing's impossible, he just has to work his way back to full health, and hopefully becomes more athletic as the season progresses.
T-Mac can only win a championship if he's only playing a supporting role on a very good team, like what he has the chance to do for the Rockets this season. If he had to really be the team leader, then no way.
Well....unless McGrady becomes an assistant coach, and we end up winning it all...with that said, he could still get a ring after retirement haha.
Exactly. You'd think his fate is inextricably linked with that of the Rockets. Unless, of course, instead of retiring after his contract is up with us, he makes a play to sign with another "contender" on the cheap. But I dunno if he has it in him to do that. Not sure if he'd be willing to play a supporting role to get a ring. If he fails here, I don't think his tarnished legacy will be enough of a motivating factor. In fact, win or lose, Houston might be his last stop. He's a 30 year old in a 40 year old body.
if he will, it's with this team the next 2 yrs. he will do it though. seeing him in the sidelines last night so excited for his teammates, it's just gonna motivate him to get healthy real quick. he knows this team has all the ingredients. tmac knows it. his excitement is so obvious. a motivated tmac + a lot of help -> something to behold.
