Needs: Houston-Upgrade power forward and point guard position/Cap flexibility.
New York: Legitimate Center, low post scorer.
Trade-Rockets trade Cato/Taylor/Norris to New York for McDyess and Charlie ward.

Why should NY do it? Fitness of McDyess. They can either pray that Dice comes back strong and they can ride his back to win the east or they can add Taylor and Cato to upgrade their front court along with their lotto pick make some in road in the playoff. NY is so much above the cap that cap flexibilty is a moot issue.

Why Should Houston do it? In McDyess they get an all star 4 if he is healthy and a decent backup point guard and dump three hefty contracts. If Dice does not get back his bite even then Rockets will be a winner as this along with Rice's expiring contract will give them tremendous cap flexibility next year (14-17 million) to retool the roster. For this season they can sign decent but relatively cheap free agents- Elden Campbell/Horry (if Laker release him), possibly at Vet. minimum.

    Will you pull the trigger?

    0.0000000000000000001 ppd.

    Anyways. Not a good trade.

I think McDyess won't be able to play NEXT SEASON as well. He already misses this past season. He is like screwed. And you don't know if he will ever be as good as he was...too much of a liability.

I don't know when his contract expires though.

I would never do it. I'd rather keep Cato and Taylor.

Moochie for Ward would be fine though.

Umm no!!Antonio is injury prone and giving up two big bodies in Cato and Taylor for an uncertain Mcdyess is stupid!

If this is true....then maybe I would do it.

    Not bad....

    Next year...

    Glen Rice - 9,200,000
    Jason Collier - 1,400,000
    Antonio McDyess - 12,600,000
    Charlie Ward - 5,700,000
TOTAL off the books - 29,000,000

That would be nice for Les Alexander......

But our team wouldn't be as good...

As good as they are, are these backups worth 17 million?

ummm no... like what the others said, mcdyess is injury prone, and he just came from a season-ending injury so im expecting him out of shape and slow this season and he might not be his old self again. plus, cato has been great off the bench! he has been a great compliment for yao ming.. well, defense wise..

I believe this is a good way of getting rid of some unwanted contracts. How else can you clear the cap space?

mcdyess' contract expires at the end of '05, not '04. just clarifying.

On JazzHoops...it says it expires after 04. But on Patricia's...it says 05.

If it is 04...then I would do the trade.

We would end up with plenty of cap space.
