Assuming everyone is healthy. If spurs face lakers in WCF, do you think they can beat the lakers and reach the finals this year?

Lakers should get themselves together by playoff, but SA is known to do that as well every year.

I actually think SA will beat LA in the playoffs this year. SA is a terrific defensive team, and LA's offence threats are no longer as potent as last year's. Tony Parker is back to form, and so is Manu. Tim Duncan is still as efficient and consistent as ever. McDyess, Neal, Splitter and Hill are all terrific players off the bench.

Despite the fact that SA is an incredibly boring team to watch, Pops sure knows how to keep it together. That team is disciplined, and in my opinion are the last team the Lakers want to face in the playoffs.

Spurs are a better team than the Lakers.

    1) They've got toughness on the frontline anchored by Duncan who still shuts down the paint along with McDyess, Blair and Splitter.
    2) They still have Parker who can penetrate at will
    3) Ginobili looks as good as ever with his ability to create something out of nothing, which is key for the ends of games and with little time left. Ditto for Parker.
    4) RJ is rejuvenated and hitting 3s like crazy.
    5) A great bench
    6) One of the top 2 coaches in the L
    7) They're pacing themselves (and still in 1st place)
    8) And they're hungry for another ring. I'm pretty sure they all want to see Duncan get his fifth ring now that Kobe already got his 5th. They certainly look like they're on a mission.
    9) The Lakers just don't look like a cohesive unit right now.

Great write up and Duncan is just coasting, and should get James Anderson back against Houston this coming Saturday.

Spurs will probably pick up someone else as a small foward, but as crazy as this sounds Blair will give LA alot of trouble.

Tony Parker has been on fire ever since he dumped Eva Longoria.

Can't judge the Lakers by how they have played so far (which isn't bad).
Like all great teams they save their best for the playoffs.

Just as in the past seasons they have been questioned and responded by winning back to back championships.....

    I'd pick the Lakers.

Assuming the Spurs and Lakers can even make it past the Rockets. I see us destroying them in the playoffs. :p

I can't believe I'm the first to say this, but it really just depends on how many of the games Joey Crawford refs.

My prediction: the series would be tied 2-2 after four games and Joey C. would end up reffing game 5 and game 7 (if it comes down to that).

No, Spurs will lose to the Blazers or Rockets in the first round.

Lakers are still the favorites in my eyes simply because they have so much size in the middle and for all that SA has done great, a motivated Laker team with Bynum, Gasol and Odom on its frontline will crush Blair, old Duncan and old Mcdyess.

    I think maybe.. not sure..

I still think they have to add some size up front, the lakers are a completely different team when they have both Gasol and Bynum upfront.

I mean the spurs just have to add someone with size and length to combat bynum's size inside the paint, so they can have Duncan go at Gasol...

Maybe someone like Samuel Dalembert or Chris Kaman could be that size they need to combat Bynum inside..

Haven't seen the Lakers play much this year. Can Brown play any defense? If not, PG is still their weakness meaning Parker can single-handedly attack them at their weakest point and wreak havoc. Duncan offsets Gasol, usually outplays him... but statistically he can offset him head to head. I'd take the Spurs. Jefferson and Bynum being the x-factors for both sides. If one of them blew up they could tilt the series in their favor.

hate both those teams. i would be ecstatic if anyone other than them makes it to finals. sadly, i don't think that's in the realm of possibility. if i had to bet, i'd say the lakers will be going again. :(

Although Kobe is aging he can still will his way past the spurs in the playoffs.

The EAST palyoffs is acutally more interesting since the West is basically composed of two top 2 teams .. Spurs and Lakers..

East has Boston, Orlando, Heat, Chicago who are all pretty close

I'm gonna have to go with the Lakers. Kobe is playing 33 minutes a game (lowest since sophomore season), so come playoff time, I guarantee he will be in full swing and constant attack mode. Plus, the Lakers' frontline, imo will be too much for the Spurs to handle.
