What's better? An all-star player disappearing or an all-star player hogging all the shots, breaking team chemistry, and starting a major losing streak.

If Melo is willing to let go of his ego, Knicks imo will be dangerous with JR Smith adding some great shooting and Novak pitching in.

They should ship Melo and Amare out this offseason for good young complimentary pieces to Lin if he keeps it up for the rest of the year.

Amare, i would trade for a top pick. Melo, i would trade for a lots of good young talent, kind of like what Denver got in return only this time you have all the leverage and he's under contract. Should have never traded for him. Imagine how good this team could be with all the players they shipped out for Melo.

Trade Amare to Cleveland for Thompson and Jamison (exp.contract). Young talent plus money to sign Lin and upgrade the roster. Cavs can get a two-man game going with Irving and Stat.

Well they probably won't keep up the .889 winning percentage if that's what you mean.

I don't know if I see a situation where people, outside of the Knicks themselves, will be enthusiastic about his return.

funny, this is the team i wish houston had. so much grit and heart. kinda reminds me of the rockets squad when AB was playing out of his mind, landry was taking care of business and we had tru warior and batman and last bust definitely not least Yao beasting (until he injured himself again).

I can't NOT root for a team like NY. Team of NBA cast-offs getting it done.

They won't be better in terms of playing at this high of a level but they will be better than they were before Melo got hurt.

A lot more pressure on Melo than he has ever had to deal with.

worse, melo is a black hole he is a star player on a losing team type, mostly plays through iso now if he has more to his game id like to see, he could play the role of joe johnson on the suns and be effective.

They need Melo. You need a superstar in a 7 game series... Amare can go though.....They can get that same production from trading for someone like Jason Thompson....

    Nothing changes.

They are winning everything. Not like they can get much better.

Like I said in other threads, if Melo let's Lin handle the ball he will be their best player and a huge upgrade. He was one of the best players with Team USA playing that role.

Melo will disrupt coach d'antoni's system simply because he can't shoot open shots with consistency and hit open 3s. He's like Iverson redux, all about scoring in the paint, doesn't do anything else but hold the ball and ISO. Plus, he's fat and out of shape, look at the lack of definition on his flabby arms. Also, he'll make the Knicks worse cuz the "Hidden Dragon" of the Knicks will have to sit: Steve Novak.

Posibly due to Lin getting him the ball exactly where he wants it, Novak has been tearing up the league ala Channing Fryes when he first came to PHX. Dude's been shooting something like 4-5 threes every single game since Lin arrived.

This should be great theater. Against any competition, 8-1 their last 9 games after being 8-15 speaks volumes. What works in the Knicks favor is they have the rest of the season to figure things out.

Can Melo adapt his game and silence most of the doubters? Stay tuned. Knicks fans will not hesitate to boo his every move if the Knicks start losing again and Lin's stats go down.

To be honest regardless of how Melo plays they need to ship out either Amare, Melo or Chandler. They won't have the capspace otherwise to resign Lin to the 5-12M he'll likely be receiving once the season ends. Chandler is overpaid, Amare has uninsured knees...at this point trading Melo seems like the only viable solution.

Trading Melo and keeping Amare + Chandler together would be insane. The Knicks can't compete for a championship without an elite perimeter scorer at SG/SF. They have the rest of the season and post-season to decide.
