What do you guys think, will this bill finally pass? Has it been sweetened enough to get the votes needed? Has Pelosi learned that it is more important to get it passed than to make some grandstanding case against Bush? Will the House pass the bill, now that small town America is starting to feel the effects? DD
Her Dumb*** should have done that crap in an Impeachment hearing not in the press. . .. . That is why she is not a very good person to me right about now Rocket River
I think for anyone that was wavering between yes/no, the California statement by Arnold ends that. It should pass today, and I imagine it will by at least a 5-10 vote margin.
From what I'm hearing from the speeches on the floor, it looks like enough reps have changed their minds that the vote should go through.
I think it'll pass - those that wanted to, got their nay vote in earlier. Now they can talk out of both sides of their mouth when up for election. "I opposed that bill and voted against it!" "I voted for the measures that stymied our financial crisis" They now can say either or both statements, depending on the bill's impact. Politics at its best. Evan
Geez..... I just heard a congressman from Texas repeat the folly that Ottoman posted last night, claiming that because the LIBOR was around this level last year, there is no crisis. Some of these congressmen really don't get it.
I think enough people checked on the value of their retirement portfolios this week that the balance of public opinion has changed.
Majority of the republicans voted against it, but I still think you're correct. http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/10/house_passes_bailout_package_n.php
