Seems like they are destined to own the southwest division for all eternity. Even with 36+ year old players they still dominate this division.
Spurs, no. Hate to say it but their organization is the model for success top to bottom and they have an excellent for talent in drafts. Mavs more likely to suck but I doubt it since Cuban will keep pumping money into it since it's his passion. He's also a very savvy business man and knows what it takes to be successful.
I don't keep up to date on actual stats, but it seems like we have only beaten Dallas like 5 or 6 times (excluding playoffs) in the last 10 years or so. Jason Terry is the biggest reason for that, and now that he's gone we may actually win one game against them this year. But that series has been horribly lopsided over the years in Dallas favor.
Remember that even at that age the core of the Spurs have been together for at least 5+ years. Then Dallas has more veterans and still have Dirk to rely on (a proven franchise player who can carry a scoring load when needed be). At least we have light at the end of the tunnel, that is if we stop relying solely on Lin and Harden to shoulder the offensive load..
You must be too young to remember when Dallas was the laughing stock of the League. Anyone else remember the Three J's experiment?
No, I'm 33. I Remember when Dallas was the laughing stock of the league, but it was only for a short time in the 90's. It seems like the Rockets have been the laughing stock of the SW division ever since Hakeem left.
I just would like to see the Rockets have some sustained success for once in my life. I would like to see our team dominate this division for more than a 10 year period.
Their time will come. For San Antonio its about 2 years away. Duncan and Manu are just about done. They will probably have to trade Tony to help rebuild. They have not found those Manus and Tonys in the draft again. Splitter is not working out too well. They got very very lucky and got Duncan. Leonard is ok, but not good enough to carry the team without the big 3. Dallas has a lot of pieces taped together right now. They wont be contenders again. Cuban needs to rebuild that team once again.
dallas only sucked for a short time in the 90's?? dude they were terrible except like 1 year in 1988, then were horrible ALL of the 90's until 2000.. they have been good since drafting dirk.. they have been worse than houston and longer too.. damn.. Houston has been bad the last what, 3 years? we haven't been the laughing stock at all at any point.. name all the 18 and 20 win seasons we have had? OP is dumb.. stfu..
We'll see what happens in San Antonio once Duncan retires. I always thought Duncan and Coach Popp would leave together, but watch the Spurs tank again and get Wiggins As long as Cuban owns the Mavs, he will keep them competitive. He writes blank checks for his team.
Not quite. While we obviously haven't been the Mavs or Spurs the last decade, we're nowhere near a laughing stock.
Trick question? Dallas always sucks, regardless of record, owner, or franchise player. Better thread: Will Utah ever not suck? Spoiler alert -- NO.
