I don't know if any of you got a chance to listen to this but I'll give you a summary of what I heard. Always good to hear positive news about the Rockets, even if it is about the past and makes us wish we were dominant once again.

Will Purdue was on ESPN radio yesterday afternoon and was asked about who was the best center he ever played against. He said hands down it was Hakeem. He said Hakeem was impossible to study because he had so many moves and was so unpredictable that you couldn't really study up for a game against him. He said that the other guys he played against were dominant (Shaq, Robinson, Ewing, etc) but you knew their tendencies and could adjust based on watching game film. However with Hakeem, he would invent moves during the game that had never been seen and played the game with so much creativity that he was virtually unstoppable.
He also said that when the Bulls would get ready to play any team, the Bulls coaching staff would give each player a DVD with the player they would be matched up against to study their playing style/tendencies. Most of the time they would give Purdue a 3 or 4 minutes DVD for all the centers in the league but Hakeem's DVD was like 15 mintues long and still it didn't help him prepare for what the DREAM had in store for his opponent.
Man I wish Yao would use even 10% of that creativity to raise his game (thats me talking, not Purdue :D ) Hopefully Dream is teaching Yao to be more creative in his training sessions and to not be scared to go with his instinct.

He was then asked by the host (Erick Casillias; I think i butchered the spelling) if the Bulls would have beaten the Rockets 2 championship teams if Jordan was playing and he asnwered:
It would have been a toss up. He said those 2 rockets teams would have been the Bulls' biggest challenge ever because of Dream and Horry, Cassell, and Clyde. He almost sounded like he was saying that the Bulls would not have beaten the Rockets but stopped just short of that.
He said they had no answer for Hakeem and in 7 games, it would have been really difficult to beat those teams (especailly the 2nd championship team)
Thats cool to read coming from a former Bulls player because i'm so sick of reading from NBA gurus that there should be an asterisk by the rockets Championshps because Jordan wasn't playing.

Anyways, thought i'd share what I heard. We can remember and cherish the memories of the good ole' days since this year SUCKED!!!

Thanks for sharing that. The Bulls really didn't have an answer with Wennington/Purdue/Longley taking turns beating on Dream. Hell, even before Drexler came over to Houston, I remember Vernon Maxwell d-ing up on Jordan pretty well.

It is good we have those memories, because I have serious doubts that this management team and this crop of Rocket's players are going to take us to the same place. Maybe a new coach will help. I hope so, but he will need much more talent.

It's nice to have the glory years to look back to when the season turns sour. I wonder what Mavs fans do at times like these.

This year didn't SUCK...it was very successful. The best record in a decade and the 4th seed in the West while being in the division with 2 of the best teams in the league. Yes we all wanted it to end differently, but to say it sucked is just not right.

As far as Will's comments...oh I long for those old days. Hakeem never gets his due when the best centers are listed, but in my humble opinion he's the best ever.

    Baqui99=REAL ROCKETS FAN

Jordan himself said the Rockets were toughest team he faced in the 90s.
Lets not forgot how awesome the team chemistry and fire were back in the day.
we know that Maxwell could throw up a bunch of bricks, then suddenly go off for 30pts in one quarter (newbies can google that game). that team was ClutchCity, the best team of all time in any sport on any planet in any solar system in any universe.

if i told you befor the season started that we would be out in the first round again, what would you have said....forget the injuries..yes we had a good regular season but if I told you we would be healthy for the Playoffs and had Yao and Tracy and had home court and we lose game 7...what would you say....
overall, the playoffs is what counts...look at Dallas, Phoenix....
look at our playoffs...one and done again...The season SUCKED!!

No I wouldn't...I've seen the Rox at their best (winning back to back world titles) and their worst (back to back worst record in the league) and nearly everything in between. Yes I might have said it was disappointing, but no way a 50 win season sucked...I enjoyed this past season very much. What will you say next year if we win only 30 games with Adleman? Now that sucks!

Anytime anyone says our championship years were asteriks, just point out our head to head games against MJ's bulls that season when he returned...and what we did to an Orlando team that MJ's bulls could not stop

I may be mistaken, But, weren't the Rockets one of the only teams to have a winning record against the Bulls in the Jordan Era? I always remember Michael saying one of the Bulls toughest matchups was the Rockets as they had no way of slowing down Dream and he took away so much of what they tried to do with his defense of the lane.

Mad Max was one of my favorite players... remember that turnaround shot he made near mid-court to send a game into OT? Not sure what team it was against but we ended up winning that game.
