Will Moochie be that easy to re-sign?

Probably like a lot of people on this board, I just assumed that this guy would be an automatic sign at the minimum since he started out as a 10-day contract from the CBA, but now, I'm beginning to wonder. If we are to believe some team out there would want Drew at one and a half million or so as a starter, why wouldn't they want Moochie? A lot of people seem to think Moochie is just a better back-up point guard than Drew, but I'm one to think Moochie may just be a better point guard than Drew period. In fact, Moochie looks like he could be better than a few starters in the league right now. If I'm a Knick or Raptor fan, I wouldn't mind having Moochie on my team. Anyway, I love Moochie as our backup and I think he was a big part of our late season success. I just hope it's not too hard to re-sign him. What do you all think?

I read an article in the Chronicle the other day, and I believe Moochie is already signed for next year. When he signed with us for the year earlier this year, it also included a non-guaranteed contract for next season as well. What that means is the Rockets hold the option on whether or not to use that contract on Moochie for next season. Basically, the Rockets signed him for a 2 year deal, but with the second year non-guaranteed so if Moochie was a disappointment he could be cut. But since obviously he isn't, to my understanding he is under contract for next season.

Moochie is signed for $500,000 next season according to the Chronicle.

I sure would like to look at that contract. I am not questioning anyone here, or Jon Feigen who wrote the Chronicle story, but I was told as late as first of April that Mooch was not solid for the 2001 season.

A week or so ago RT referred to one of his priorities as signing "those two guys" to keep the "four guys in the backcourt going".
Francis and Shandon are signed. Even if he meant Drew as one of the four, which I doubt, he is also signed through 2001. That leaves only Mobes and Norris.

This came up yesterday and I have called a couple of people I know at home today (even attempted to call Moochie's home, without luck) to narrow it down for me. I was told I have to wait until Tuesday or Wednesday for the answer.

Just a personal note: For me, and all things being equal, and if I was making only $500,000 a year like Mooch and if I was as important to the Rox as Mooch, I think I would be talking a little better deal to make me happy, IF there was a deal alreadyy signed in April.
