Without Manu and Nocioni, Scola carries the team on his own shoulders and keeps the Argentines rolling. I think just judging by the group stats and records he's the runaway candidate for MVP in the tournament.

Especially since VSpan isn't having a great tournament.

Do you have the stats of the star players in the World Championships? Being able to compare them would be helpful.

Only ARG has a winning team among them even though they dropped this heartbreaker to Serbia.

He's just doing what he should be. No Yao, so Yi better be playing well. He made some bonehead plays down the stretch in the past couple games.

The MVP goes normally for the champion team, or at least a medallist. I doubt Argentina will get a medal, anyway, he's truly the best player of the tournament. What he has done against the serbian defense today is unbelieveable. That's one of the toughest defenses of all the tournament, and rivals prepare all their defenses with the aim of stopping Luis.

Looks stronger than ever, as fast as usual, in great shape. A true argentinean legend. The team could win it all with Oberto, Ginobili and Nocioni.

If they get to the final then yes.

If Team USA wins it all then Durant will get it.

He only plays well when he goes against weak teams.

He played against Serbia today, a very good team, and scored 32 pts on 12/19 FG and 8/11 form the free throw line. Too bad his team lost 84 to 82. Oh and the next top scorer on Argentina's team was Prigioni with only 13 pts.

He was talking about Yi, not Scola.

It was still a FIBA tournament. In fact, Scola has been the MVP of the last 2 FIBA Americas Championships, and his team didn't get gold either time.

I think he will be named MVP as long as Argentina finishes at least third in the tournament.

Winning the MVP or not, Scola is an underrated player.
Now its time for him to prove himself to the world.

32 pts against the so called thoughest FIBA deffense is not something seen everyday, specially considering how focused were the entire serbian D with him....
Anyway 29 ppg over the whole tournament, he would be the MVP if Argentina gets any medal.
