I am wondering this... It seems Morey is following him very closely. "Madrid W vs DKV.Llull w/solid gm.Started 2half-played 1 exclusively&subbed in 4 extra D.Very good+/-.RM slows down tempo-limiting trans oppt " "R.Madrid wins. Tough game both ways. Llull with strong defense down the stretch to help preserve the win. Barcelona dancers were MVP." "We R struggling but our guys will finish strong.Barca/R.Madrid tonight-gr8 plyrs in big gm-best scenario.Llull playing well, hoping 4 good gm" ...
He's on contract, and I think he's enjoying his time in the Euroleague and doesn't want to come over anyway.
I heard on sports radio this week that Morey is in Europe to do some scouting. He's probably taking the opportunity to check in on Llull while he's there. Commenting about Llull is probably the most public thing he can do. Doesn't want to tip his hand about other players they are scouting there.
Well, that will be interesting if Lull is ready to come to the NBA next season. He's a point guard, but right now we have Brooks and Lowry there. And Lowry is pushing hard for more playing time. Brooks on the other hand is challenging the top NBA poing guards to get solidify himself as a legit 2 tier guy. If Lull is good enough, could we be seeing a trade happening in the off season? With Brooks or with a sign and trade for Lowry? I say let's get the best fit Morey and Adelman.
Unless a PG is traded or Lowry cannot be re-signed for whatever reason... otherwise prob another year if hes not packaged in a trade.
Not zero chance because a buyout could be negotiated. However, it's unlikely, since we already have Brooks and Lowry and wouldn't have any PT for Llull.
AB gets away from a doubleteam with a spin move. Hmmm ... trying something new. But Aaron allows himself to be "bullied". After Artest fouled him and it was not called, he should go down and foul Artest really hard or get in the face of the ref and get a technical. He shouldn't just take it.
I have not seen him play, but would he be good enough to backup Brooks? Perhaps it is plan B for Morey in case he cannot resign Lowry. A buyout + salary might be cheaper than what Kyle will demand.
Llull is already a star in the Euroleague, he definitely won't be cheap (think Andersen money). If we sign him over here it won't be as a 3rd pg, it will be because we shipped Brooks/Lowry out for more talent. However the Rocket' recent play have convinced me that lowry won't get more than his current salary. His game doesn't translate all that well to stats, there' no way a team will pay him more than 4 mill a year considering all the solid pgs that emerged due to this year's draft class. Lull might end up a trading chip when all is said and done
Lull is 6'6 so he can play the 1 and 2. I imagine Lowry or Brooks would need to be moves to bring a Euroleague guy of his calibur over here. He certainly will not come "cheap"
Llull is 6'3", actually. He's a big point guard and could maybe play the 2 if asked, but I don't think he's a "true" combo guard.
The issue is, Rudy Fernandez. Pretty much, his experience along with a few other notable NBA Euro trasports, in not instantly becoming superstars has poisoned a lot of younger potential stars (like the punk bia Rubio) in coming to the US, especially on teams where they might not have great success, when they can stay in the Euro league and dominate. Llull might come over if Morey sweet talks him enough to be willing to come off the bench. But if he is ever offered to become the full time starting PG for Real Madrid, I doubt we will see him for a while. Some want the NBA experience and others may not.
Morey has have 2 examples of the anti-Rudy Fernandez with Yao Ming and Luis Scola It's funny you mention Fernandez, but forget that Luis Scola came over the same year. Scola even has a chinese shoe deal out of it. <object width="400" height="300"><param name="movie" value="http://www.tudou.com/v/Y-XofpSzQCk"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.tudou.com/v/Y-XofpSzQCk" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="400" height="300" allowFullScreen="true" wmode="transparent" allowScriptAccess="always"></embed></object>[/QUOTE] I just don't see how Fernandez is a reflection of how the Rockets have treated foreign players such as Yao Ming and Luis Scola. Rubio wasn't poisoned by Fernandez. He never wanted to go to the Timberwolves in the first place and threatened to stay in Europe. Idiots drafted him anyway.
It is not unlikely that either Brooks or Lowry be traded in a package for a star caliber player in the offseason. So, Llull could be an important piece to fill the void.
