Wins a Cy Young, an ERA title, and takes the team to two straight NLCS and probably a World Series? That's an automatic.

Would I like them to? Yes.

I don't think he'll have played enough seasons with us though.

    Of course they will.

The bigger question is....will the Astros ever retire JR Richard's jersey????

I agree with this ... I think if he somehow carries this team to a World Series then it will be different. Until then, I don't think 2 seasons will be enough.

Don't the Astros have the second most retired numbers after the Yankees? That's with Bagwell and Biggio to come...

Of course, this is the team that built statues of two players before they retired, so I wouldn't be suprised if they retired the jersey of every player on the team this season...

eh...Drexler played 4 season for the Rocks. he was never the best player on the team. he was a local boy, though. and his jersey hangs from the rafters at Toyota Center.

    clemens jersey gets retired here.

Roger has played two, Drexler won a championship. I have no problem either way, but its not comparable unless the Stros go on to win the series.

    bullard won a championship, too.

drexler got retired because he was the hometown guy...and the great story of 95. clemens' story matches that. we don't have a championship...yet...but winning Cy last year...him being ridiculously dominant. he's become such a huge part of this franchise in a very short period of time.

Drexler was still one of the best players in the league, if not the second best behind Hakeem, and his team won a championship, which a lot of people feel wouldn't have happened if they hadn't made that trade.

Its not the same. Like I said, I don't care but two years isn't enough to argue its an automatic, I don't care what he did outside of this team winning the World Series.

    the Bullard remark is silly.

you think drexler was the 2nd best player in the league in 1995? that's not how i remember it, at all.

i think it's automatic because it's not something up to chance. the people who make this decision are the reason why i think it will happen. the astros would love the chance to have roger clemens number hanging in their stadium. there's no magic number he has to reach to make it happen. it just gets done.

i thought the bullard remark was smart.

He was the hometown guy ... who won (and was a key ingredient to) a championship. Are you comparing his contributions to those of Bullard? Why even say that?

They will retire his jersey only if Clemens play 2 more seasons, and brings a ring, or at least a World Series

Definitely his jersey gets retired. I only wish MLB would allow him to go into the hall of fame with an Astros cap. No chance they allow it though.
