Well, this year is when we'll see what our friend Steve Francis is made of. He had a great first year but lets face it, we all think(/want ) he is going to something special, not just a good point guard. Will he take the next step? Will he start taking games by the scruff of the neck, start making everyone around him better, improve his defense? Or will he struggle, get injured or hit the wall? What do you all think? ------------------ http://rocketdavo.tripod.com
Franchise is already one of the outstanding point guards in the league. Stevie ripped up some of the best last year, this season he will go insane on them. ------------------ I AM SPARTACUS [This message has been edited by DEANBCURTIS (edited July 03, 2000).]
This year he will be better just based on having a year in the NBA & having the Rockets full attention as a franchise player. He already is much more than a good point guard & I would love to see him take the Pepsi challenge with ANY other point guard in the league. ------------------
Good question DAvo. I think that, BARRING ANY INJURIES, Francis should step up and continue on his great performance last season. Injury is the one thing that could stop him though, and I hope that he does not get injured. The key to not gettin injured is to work out your body.. that's why Malone is never injured... he practicaly kills himself over the summer. ------------------ treasurer of the moochie norris fan club
I'm no profit, but I think Francis will continue to improve. I also believe he will play nearly every game next season. ------------------ No signature for you!
For me the there is a very Large question mark over the Superstar status of Steve Francis. Look at all the current and past stars of the game and there aren't too many who didn't play some semblence of defense. And at the moment Steve's defense is in the same boat as Walt's and dare i say it Bulls. How many times last year did the top tier (well not just top tier any PGs) of opposition PGs lite him up for plus 30 (can you say payton, van excel, bibby, brandon, cassell) . Personally i hope Steve continues his balanced offensive game where assists seem just as important as points, although he probably needs to step up and take the Clutch shots more. But the big improvement that has to happen in Steve's game this year has to be his defense and more specifically to personally take it upon himself to shut down his opposing PG night in night out and then i think we will have ourselves a true SUPERstar. ------------------ Stuff BBS, the Rockets and you guys It's all Clippers these days, come join the bandwagon and visit http://www.ClippersCity.net
Yeah, but Stevie was only a rookie. Shouldn't he be given a little slack? Afterall, Stockton used to abuse Payton and the tables turned. Payton used to abuse Kidd and now they are on almost equal ground with an arguable edge to Kidd. His D will come around. ------------------ WE WILL WATCH THEM FALL... next year, at least.
LOL cisco Sorry i forgot everyone has their rocket-coloured glasses on. ******NEWS FLASH******* The rockets sucked last year, CAUSE they played NO defense. Only really Shandon is an exception to this statement, and maybe KT if we believe Duncan. Francis and Cat choose not to play any (apparently it's not cool). Walt, Bull, Drew can't play any. Cato thinks trying to swat everything is defense. Dream had the ventilator on wheels excuse. Pig, Moogie and Rodgers are so used to Garbage time they don't know any better. ------------------ Stuff BBS, the Rockets and you guys It's all Clippers these days, come join the bandwagon and visit http://www.ClippersCity.net [This message has been edited by SmeggySmeg (edited July 03, 2000).]
Don't believe Duncan. He's a liar. He said he was leaving Orlando on Sunday, and stayed an extra day. Not someone you can trust, is he? Thomas is short. He needs to be traded. ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better. Collier is Seven Foot and Left Handed. How can you go wrong? Trade or bench Kenny Thomas.
