Let's just say that this deal between Houston and Orlando goes through and Francis ends up on the east coast. Will he be able to make the All-Star team? Personally I don't think he has a chance. There's more competition at the guard position with players like, Iverson, Kidd, Lebron, Marbury, Rip Hamilton, and Redd just to name a few. What are your thoughts?

In fan voting, there is no way Rip and Redd would be Steve out. On the same hand, I doubt Steve would ever beat out Kidd, Iverson and James.

Is Vince Carter usually a guard on the ballots?

Iverson, Kidd and Lebron are guards on the East ballot. Vince Carter is always listed as a Forward.

Francis might get more votes than Kidd and Lebron. He did last year. Iverson will always lead.

If he puts up the same numbers that he used to, 20-7-7 or thereabouts, and Orlando is at or near .500, then I think he will make it.

If he does make it, he'll come off the bench.

Maybe the East will start Francis & Kidd while the West will start Kobe & T-Mac. 2 PGs vs 2 SGs.

Especially with Baron Davis out of the East and Steve always beating Marbury, Kidd past his prime, and Labron switching to 2 guard, I think he's a lock to make the All-Star team. He's a good physical point guard in the Western conference. He will thrive over there.

I have to agree with Hayjon, Steve will thrive in the east (if he's happy there). His numbers will probably go up quite a bit, since looking at a future orlando with Steve, Cuttino, Cato, Okafor, and whoever their small forward will be, Steve will be their biggest scorer, and their go to guy. I think he'll be right up there with iverson, lebron, and kidd. Those three are really his only competition. He might even nudge out one of them for third place.

I ran the numbers for last season, and against the east he averaged: 16.87 ppg and against the west he averaged: 16.43 ppg. I could be wrong on those numbers, I just used excel real quick.

Here are some more stats, I hope they are helpful.

    PPG
    East: 16.87
    West: 16.43

    East-West: +0.44

    Turnovers
    East: 3.4
    West: 3.93

    East-West: -0.53

    Assists
    East: 6.2
    West: 6.29

    East-West: -0.09

    Rebounds
    East: 5.43
    West: 5.52

    East-West: -0.09

    FG %
    East: 0.401
    West: 0.415

    East-West: -0.014

    Steals
    East: 1.633
    West: 1.837

    East-West: -0.204

In conclusion, SF plays a little better against the West with the exception of TOs and points, but there is not a significant difference b/t the east and west.

LeBron and Iverson will start in the East. Steve will have to be a reserve if anything.

I won't be voting for him, but that's nothing new because I didn't vote for him this year. I expect that without a big name teammate to add to his totals, he won't beat out Kidd and Iverson (who got more votes last year), especially playing in a smaller market like Orlando. A wild card might be the possible resurgence of Grant Hill, though most don't count on him ever being a superstar player again.

I think that Cat might finally get an all-star roster spot. He will be Steve's sidekick again and always tears it up against the East (17ppg against them last season)
