Since Ray Allen is a free agent and is no longer worth the $16 million per year, is there any way the Celtics could end up with Joe Johnson? If they did, they would undoubtedly win a championship if they could get some more help in the rebounding department... Pg- Rondo Sg- Johnson Sf- Pierce Pf- Garnett C- ? (Perkins out for year?)
It was reported that they were trying to get Brad Miller, who would take up the center spot. He's getting old though
I'm tired of hearing about them and the Lakers, I hope they both fall into the bottomless pit of futility.
They would be a huge longshot to get Johnson. They don't have much at all to offer in a S&T. Their assets this summer are MLE Perkins ($4.5M, health concerns) Ray Allen (S&T) Paul Pierce (S&T) That they'll get enough value back in any of those potential deals to offset their rapid decline and player loss is dubious. I don't particularly expect to see them in the playoffs next spring.
Considering how bad Ray Allen is now I don't think they need to "reload" to upgrade the position. If the Celtics land a decent big to back up (or start ahead of) Perkins and a SG capable of a consistent 14-15 PPG game they could easily be back in the Finals next season.
