What kind of offer do you think Carl would get to play in Europe?

Buddy Baker sucks as an agent. He is holding Landry back, IMHO.

I guess Landry is succeeding in spite of him, but he ought to get a real pro, instead of someone who offends management, causing their heels to dig in, because he doesn't know how to negotiate professionally.

Well he already has players signed over there, so he does have some connections.

    However,

I think he would be shooting himself in the foot for getting more NBA caliber players if he sends his one and only productive NBA player overseas because he can't work out an agreement with a stateside team.

Would rather have him in Europe than in another NBA team watching him kill the Rockets on the regular.

If I were Buddy, I'm gonna try to hook Carl up with a high caliber Euro team with a high caliber PG to make Carl look good.

You've brought up a good question.I wouldn't be surprised if Buddy Baker wouldn't explore something for him in Europe. I have no idea how much he would make there, but it possibly might be more than what the Rockets will end up offering him.
I would assume that if a European club is going to offer him big bucks, they would want a thorough medical examination first which could complicate things for Landry.

Buddy Baker is doing exactly what an agent should do. He shouldn't care what the organization wants his sole goal should be to do what his client values to be the best. Landry wants some money after being underpaid last year and Baker is holding out to get it. What do you expect him to do? Take the blinders off stop thinking that an agent is stupid just because he won't do exactly what fans and the team want him to do for his client.

Ehhh, as annoying and frustrating as the Landry standoff has been you can't really fault an agent for doing precisely what agents do. The longer this talk goes on the closer Landry gets to securing the MLE.

Our hands are tied as long as they continue to play this card. Sooner or later somebody's got to break.

I get the feeling that some other NBA team which is desperate for a backup PF will offer him a contract around 2-2.5 M which will force the Rockets to decide whether to match it or not. The Nets backed out from their offer to Shareef but the Kings went ahead and took him.

If the Rockets have decided not to use the MLE to obtain any other player apart from Landry, then there isn't much reason for them to hurry up.They can just match any offer that he gets.

landry wouldn't get a high offer from a european club because he's not proven enough. he'll probably earn more money in the nba. plus, he wouldn't fit in as good in europe anyways.

I thought EURO teams played more of a finesse game than a power game. I doubt Landry would get much more money there than here.

You are absolutely correct on the agent responsibility side. However, as to being underpaid, Landry really didn't play all that many games last year. He had a number of games that showed some nice potential -- but he also demonstrated he is one knee-bump away from never playing at the NBA level.

Why should we give him the MLE right now? No other team has felt he deserves that much since no one has offered it to him. We can match any offer so why not wait till one is out there or Landry gets desperate and takes less then the MLE. He is going to get a huge raise, but if we can sign him for 3 million instead of almost 6 million why not do that.

I guess people haven't heard of marquise daniels. Undrafted, had a decent rookie season and got the mle. Well, we see what happens when u over react. That's why I've said I would leave him about 2m of the mle, that's it.
