Easy brought up a good point in a different thread. The maximum players we can keep around is 15 -- and that includes 3 on the injured reserve list. Which three do you put on IR?

PG - Francis, Norris, Brown, Maddox
    SG - Mobley, Torres
SF - Thomas, Rice, Morris, Nachbar
    PF - Griffin, Taylor
    C - Ming, Cato, Collier

At this point I would have to say Tito Maddox, Jason Collier, and possibly Norris if he is still not recovered from the finger dislocation. When Norris comes back, Rudy and CD have a very tough decision. Does Nachbar move to the IR? Has Morris earned a spot on the active roster? Does Tierre Brown move to the IR? This is a tough choice to make.

Having 15 Rockets who are not injured sounds like heaven to me. :) But if Nachbar gets completely healed I doubt he'll be on the reserve list. I'd say Torres or Brown are most likely.

There will spots for them on the roster until after the MoT suspension. I can Brown, Tito, and Nachbar going to the IR. The only question is whether it will Tito or Oz. They need a backup for Cat. Collier will stay in the rotation just because big men tend to get into foul trouble more and thats 5 more fouls to give.

    ummmm,

What is the big tough decision in placing Moochie and Maurice on IR for the first 10 days of the season and waiting for Collier hurt himself again.

    Dang, good question.
Well, Maddox and Collier won't, even though it should be Cato instead.

Unless Thomas is traded or draft picks, money, or something towards the future, I don't see Nachbar on the list of 12.
Unless they feel he can play back up to Mobley, and that would mean Torres is out? We still haven't seen him at 100% so we don't know how athletic he really is.

    Don't know, but good question.
Why would we pick him at 15 and not use him?

    1 Francis
    2 Mobley
    3 Rice
    4 Griffin
    5 Ming
    6 Moochie
    7 Thomas
    8 Brown
    9 Torres
    10 Morris
    11 Taylor
    12 Cato

i see these guys making the active roster:

    ming-cato
    moT-griff
    rice-kt
    cat
    steve-mooch

thats obvious. with the way preseason has been going, i think we can add oz and Tmo. those two have really contributed. thats 11 spots.

we have collier, boki, tierre, and tito fighting for the last spot. i think sinceour centers might be foul prone collier wins.

    my ir list is:

    boki
    tiere
    tito

Ow man, that one play where Boki had the ball, no one was
within 15 feet of him, and he at first was looking to pass.. pretty
much everyone in the building was saying 'Hey, go ahead and
take the free shot - it's preseason after all..' hehe and then he
honks it off the rim.. that was painful, because we all know he
is a good shooter, and that was probably the easiest shot he will
EVER see in this league again.. LOL you know his teammates
will give him grief for that one for a long time..

Not worried though.. he found his stroke a bit in the game, better
than in the previous games.. I think we will see steady improvement
from him with every minute of pt ..

Funny how the really good shooters seem to almost perform
better with an enemy's hand in his face.. I bet Boki turns out to
    be like that.

Plus, even if Boki starts the season on the reserve list, I think very
soon you will see him take the spot from either Torres or Brown,
if he hasn't already. Remember, we only see the games.. Rudy
sees *everything*. But if Boki is still healing from his surgery,
then there is no reason to rush. I am in complete agreement with
Declan on this. A healthy Nachbar is more valuable to this team
    than (most likely) Torres.

    Ciao

You may be giving Maddox a little too much credit. He has not looked very fluid. I think in his place you will see Pete Mickeal. he is a bigger guy that can play SG or SF. Expect him to battle Oscar for backup SG min.

We can't put Mo Taylor on the IR. He has to be active to serve his 5-game suspension.

I won't be surprised if Nachbar starts the season on the IR. I don't think it will have anything to do with his talent or competition though. They said that he's been a bit slower than expected in recovering from his injury and he's still doing rehab. I think they'll shelve him until that is done with and he's 100%. I'd say joining him will be Collier (it seems Rudy T would sooner play a PF out of position than Collier -- and we have plenty of power forwards) and Maddox.

No way! Unless TMo's injury is too serious.

The more important question is will Rockets sign Torres and/or Brown?

    Active roster:

SF, Cat, KT, Griff, Ming, Cato, Rice, Taylor, Morris, Mooch, Maddox, Creampuff.

    That's 3 centers, 4 guards and 5 forwards

If Brown, Torres sign then Maddox, JC may be on the bubble. I just don't see Rudy going with 6 forwards though, that's half the roster...

Out of all my detractors on here, I should have known you would be the one to point that out and come to good ol Pete's rescue. :p

Pipp, if you do not get many answers in this thread, will you post another one asking about Mickeal?

Mickeal has a way to go, but was active and looked like he knew something about defense. I like Oscar a lot, but he did not show much D last year.

Mickeal I feel could be a good role player for this team.

The assumption of this thread is that IF (a big IF) everyone is healthy, who do you want to put into the IR doghouse.

Centers: Collier seems to be a logical choice since Griffin can play the backup 5 -- unless Ming gets hurt or keeps on getting into foul trouble.

Power Forwards: None of the PFs will be on IR when healthy.

Small Forwards: We now have 4 SFs. One of them won't be on the active roster. This is going to be a tough choice. With his big contract, I don't see Rice on IR when healthy. KT is too valuable. So the choice is between Morris and Nachbar. Based on preseason performance, Morris is better than Nachbar. But Nachbar is not 100%. So if Nachbar is in full speed, what do you do? The dilemma is that you want him to develop. But he is not going to develop very well by wearing street clothes on game nights. I don't have a good answer.

Shooting Guards: The only true SG besides Mobley is Torres. Unless one of the PGs proves to be a better backup, I don't see him in the doghouse either.

Point Guards: Francis and Norris will be playing. So it's between Maddox and Brown. Or if either of them can beat out Torres as the backup 2, then Torres will end up on the IR.

So, the three honorable doghouse residence of the Injured Reserve list who are not injured are: Collier, Morris/Nachbar, and Maddox/Brown.

Well, Norris is on it for sure. Collier is the least needed, so he is on IR assuming that he makes the team(and last night helped him out).

Until he is healthy, we can't have Steve backing up Cuttino, so Torres or Maddox will have to be active. Let's say both and then just have Brown on the IR.

Once Norris is healthy, whoever is less useful of Torres and Maddox will go to IR. I think it will be Torres because Maddox should be able to play the 1 and 2.

Another reason that I think Maddox will get time is that I suspect Rudy would like to develop him to replace Mooch in a few seasons. Hopefully then we can trade Mooch to be a starter somewhere and have Maddox be a good backup for Steve and Cuttino. That way we can keep their minutes down to a respectable level.

Why do we need collier? We have Ming, Cato, Griffin and Taylor who can all play 5. The man might make the opening 5 game roster, but after that, he's gone.
