I just ask cause im a big fan of defensive minded players, who can also put up points when asked. I think Battier should be kept? My name was to honor more players who can be such a defensive presense, while learning the offensive game when the star player is not on the floor. There should be more battiers out there but there is not...

I think having Ariza warrants a Battier trade, provided the incoming players be suitable.

He's a valuable player at a position of strength in a year where Morey is looking to upgrade other positions. Considering also his contract and age, I would say yes.

I hope not. And if he is, I hope he comes back next season.

DM will try to retain him unless he is forced to include him in a trade for a player who can propel us forward.

agreed. i dont think us fans know how important he is as a leader to this team. however, if its the only way to get an elite player, then he's gone.

Even though he is kind of old, and he seems to have declined some(perhaps it was because Yao wasn't in the paint the entire season?) I still wouldn't mind keeping him.
He works hard and is a class guy.

Yes he will and I also think he will get bought out and return to the Rockets.

That would actually be the perfect scenario, if possible.

My dream scenario would be him included in a S&T for Bosh and agreeing to a buyout and return to the Rockets.

Hey, if the Cavs can get away with it, why can't we?

He will/should be shopped. Hopefully we can do what the Grizz did to us in 06 with him.

I say NO if we get Bosh or Stoudamire. I think at the point, DM and Les go into serious WIN NOW mode. Battier is a WIN NOW guy, whereas Chase and Ariza are WIN LATER guys. If you are in WIN NOW mode you keep Shane. If you wanna WIN LATER, you keep Chase and Trevor and JHill and trade Shane/Chuck Hayes, etc.

he's an expiring contract right? I hope that if he evers gets traded, Battier gets bought out and the Rockets sign him again for the minimum, the Spurs had done this several times...........

Whatever happens, I want Battier as a coach or consultant for this team whenever he is done playing. Though IMO, he will clearly have larger opportunities a la Deke with his NBA league position.
