Are there any current players that will win 6 rings or more? Kobe? Duncan? Shaq? (yeah, I know, DFish has 4 also, but I'm talking superstars.)

Or perhaps Lebron's career will climax with greater than or equal to 6 rings?

Yao? :( Sadly, I'm hoping for just one.

    DWade?

Six is a lot of championship seasons. You've got to have a superstar sidekick, a great coaching staff, and an extended run of good health. Any of Kobe, Duncan, and Shaq has a shot this year with the odds favoring Kobe and Duncan.

Is there somebody else that I haven't mentioned, perhaps a DWade, Brandon Roy, Chris Paul, Derrick Rose, Dwight Howard, etc.?

    Thoughts?

I think Tony Parker and to a lesser extent Manu Ginobili. Along with Kobe Bryant are the ones that might tie Jordan“s record

These 2 Spurs already have 3 titles and Ginobili has said he will play at least 5 more years, he could end his career at 37 in a Horry/Kerr type of role.
Parker, has also 3 titles and is the younger Spurs, will be a free agent by the time Duncan retires and likely will be target of top teams, making him a possible candidate for the feat.

Kobe Bryant has already 4 rings and can be handed whatever allstar he needs if his teams are struggling due to his conflictive behaviour.

Pretty obvious answer here. Kobe has four now and the Lakers look like they'll dominate with that team, I predicted a dynasty when they got Pau and two trips to the finals confirms they might be.

If the Thunder become legit contenders I'd say Kevin Durant. But its too early to tell.

It's doubtful that even Jordan could get six rings in this new era of free agency and salary caps.

My thoughts exactly. Forget Kobe, Its already been done. Big Shot Bob is hands down one of the greats.

    This, for sure.

As far as Robert Horry, he deserves consideration except that he doesn't qualify as "current" unfortunately.

Nobody will, I believe. Duncan is too close to the end for two more titles, Kobe has a legit shot, but Lebron is closing fast on a title. Kobe can probably
get one more, but then it may be Lebron or Chris Paul's time. Kobe has to start slipping soon, he's been in the league since 96'. As for Lebron's career tally, no way for 6 rings. I don't think anyone but a role player like Horry who moves around a lot has a shot. Free agency and lack of loyalty will keep any true superstar from keeping the right supporting cast for long enough. Lebron may approach Jordan some day as a player, but I see three titles at most, especially if he ends up with the NJ/Brooklyn Nets.
Carmelo, Durant, Oden, Paul etc. won't get 6 or even close. Jordan made it look a lot easier than it really is. He learned from Magic, Bird, and the Pistons Bad Boys teams, plus he had the schooling from Dean Smith and Phil Jackson. He had a lot of advantages, and he worked as hard as anyone. I don't see the same dedication and toughness from any of the young stars today, except maybe Paul, not Lebron yet. He can get there, but the pouting has got to go. When you have the world at your feet from the age of 18, though, can you ever truly grow up? Jordan was a late bloomer, and three years in college with a coach who kept everyone grounded, so his learning curve was shorter. Lebron has to realize he has everything but a title, just like MJ had to learn, and when he did, he took over the world. I don't see Lebron scaling those heights, no matter how rich and famous he gets...

Winning or surpassing 6 rings is a team accomplishment anyways.

The more prevalent question is will anybody ever win or surpass the 6 NBA Finals MVP awards that Jordan has won. I know Robert Horry didn't win one of those.

Kobe is the only NBA player that has a small fragment of a chance to do that. But, the Lakers would have to be perfect the next 3 seasons.

Kobe has a small chance... nobody else though. It's doubtful even Kobe gets it though.

What about the possibility of a team like NY drawing in two superstars next summer like a LeBron and Wade tandem?
But yeah, things such as ego - which one would be the pippen to the others jordan?
and role players leaving after a breakout performance in the playoffs ala james posey. Why did he leave the celtics right after a championship?
will keep them from achieving dominance for such a long time, oh and they arent on the same team yet :p
