Will a Yao-Gasol front court work for a championship team?

It might be a little soft on D, but I like the offensive power of this combo. The opposing 4 cannot cheat to double Yao anymore. I think that Yao-Gasol combo can lead us to the title down the road.

I am not sure how we can get Gasol. I read an article indicating that Gasol was one of Yao's favorite players before he became a Rockets. Yao had indicated in different occasions (back in China) that he would lilke to play with Gasol on the same team.

And how do you propose we get Gasol???

Grizz aren't giving him up in a trade for anything less than Yao.

I will warn you alot of people are going to bash you for posting this, but I don't mind. Gasol is one of my favorite players too. And I think Yao and Gasol would be a very good fit. I think the Rockets need a PF that can score so Yao can have some pressure off him in the post. Gasol could do this, so could Rasheed Wallace, or even a Keyan Martin. Gasol would be my #1 choice though.

I agree with Codell, we won't get Gasol for anything less than Yao and thats not gonna happen.

    Think about this though:

When we propose trades on this board, they're lopsided.

So when MemphisX comes here and says they won't trade Gasol for anything short of Gasol, if we assume that he's relatively biased, then we can assume he could be had for less than Yao.

But ofcourse, it won't be done for Francis, unless they seriously believe he can be a full-time 2, and Swift breaks out in a BIG way.

Ill rephrase to emphasize my point then:

The only player on our team that will get you Gasol is Yao Ming.

    Better????

Yao and Pao will NEVER play on the same team together. Unless it's an all-star team. Also, if they both decide to neglect their home countries and opt to represent the U.S. in the olympics, but we all know that isn't going to happen either. So get that silly idea out of your head.

didnt we read something from memphisX that gasol would be used as trade bait for a better player? this goes along with jerry west's business sense of "sell high, buy low". i think it was mentioned that swift could do a fair job in replacing gasol and it would be worth it if they traded him for a much better player. in all fairness, gasol may be their best player, but i don't see him as someone that they would win a championship with, or someone they could rely on, he is their best player but he's certainly no franchise player and i think its possible that they can trade him for a franchise player.

that said, i dont think we could get him as his trade value is high now, but a yao gasol front court combo would be mighty destructive offensively, but pau needs to work on his defensive pressure and switching before he can enter into gundy's system.

I am not so sure a 3-way with Francis going to a 3rd team in the East, Gasol to Houston, and a comparable talent to the Grizzlies would be out of the realm of possibility.

Jerry West isn't very high on Gasol. Probably has to due with his softness and giving up at the end of seasons. He was used as trade bait by West. On the flipside he seems to be high on swift who has gotten better by adding a midrange jumper.

The team we have right now is good but isnt not going to win up a championship, that will need an upgrade at pf.

no, its quite easy to spell on my own without having to cut and paste. and i only plop it down in ridiculous trade threads to reiterate that this team is fine.
