we all know we could use a trade, but we also know how "close" some of the guys that might go are to one another.

    business is business,

but do you think a trade could hurt the team emotionally and worsen their performance rather than help?

There is always that chance, you don't know if you don't try..................could be bad for the team or could be tremendous for the team.

Why not, they can't play any worse, and it is time to get some of the players OUT of their comfort zone.

They need to realize that no one player is above the team.

No, let's keep the team together and let the guards continue to masturbate the basketball and let Cat continue to keep firing away despite a wide-open Yao Ming and let's allow Steve to continue thinking this team is safe even though he can't even lead it on a simple fast break....

Let's, by all means, keep this guard tandem that doesn't utilize Yao Ming. Let's make sure Yao leaves the team when his contract is up.

In the other thread about Rudy's call-in show, Rudy says something about "we're addressing Cat's shot selection" etc etc. That's great. How many times can you say it, though? How many times can he ignore you and then tell the Chronicle, "Oops, my bad"? Obviously Cat thinks his place here is secure.

    Yep. Let's stand pat.

Trade or no trade, we won't make the playoffs; why not at least LOOK to address our problems now?

I'm kinda torn between keeping the team together for another season, or trying to get a trade going cause there are just so many good players on the block. Well, one thing that I think would still be too big a risk is to separate Mobley and Francis. Sometimes loyalty to friends is a larger force than ppl realize, especially if its your best pal. So the answer to the thread is... who the hell knows?

When Rudy said "we're addressing Cat's shot selection", I think he meant he is shopping Cat. You see everybody knows that Cat play badly, serious. but he gets most playtime over all rox players. What does that tell us? Rudy is showcasing Cat! Wow! Did you see that? What's Cat's line for this season?

It depends on what the trade is.

If it's a good trade, then it will help.

If it's a bad trade, then it will hurt.

    :) Simple.

BUT if we actually had ANOTHER trade, they would have to develop chemistry and get adjusted. Posey is still kinda adjusting.

I could see where all trades are not 100% accepted. I remember when Clyde come on board...alot of the players (i.e. Kenny Smith, Robert Horry, VERNON MAXWELL) were very skeptical about giving up Otis Thorpe for another guard...especially when rebounding was a major weakness on those teams.

A trade isnt always the answer or isnt always good. Chemistry is key, I dont think these guys will ever develope it...

Well, since Cat is playing his usual minutes, is not in fact playing poorly, and is backed up by Joaquin freakin' Hawkins, I doubt he is being showcased. If he were he would get a lot more isolations called for him. Also, every game that I have seen, Cat has NOT refused to pass to Yao. Admittedly I only got league pass in January, but from my reading on here, it seems as though people have a problem with his recent play. In the Cleveland game he took ONE bad shot (contested corner three, I think in the third quarter) and shot well. He passed the ball (contrary to the box score readers opinions that a guy who is passing the ball will get more than one assist) and played within the offense. I see no reason to trade Cat, and I think he is the guy that will get the worst return value in a trade.

Im not a per se Cat basher but statements like this amaze me.

When was the last time Cat set up a guy in a good scoring position. And Im not talking about just throwing the ball to someone and letting them create their own shot.

And don't even start with that BS about it's not his job to set up other people.

Yao set up 2 people within the last minute of the game (Mo T. and James Posey) on bounce passes.

Yao sent a pass to James Posey who setup a wide open Cat (who once again was the receipient - this time from the small forward) to nail a 3 pointer.

At what point will Cat lovers realize that maybe, just maybe it's everybody's responsibility to make that extra pass that creates the easy shot for someone else.

Real passing leads to direct scores which coincedentally also determines whether you get an assist.

Why are Jazz etc good? Great chemistry. We are working on it. Don't panic trade and ruin it just yet.

Unfortunately, many times Cat is making the first pass. Just as Yao would not get an assist for passing the ball to Posey who passed to Cat for the three (his clutch shooting I didn't even mention, nearly brought us back against the Cavs), Cat doesn't gt an assist for swing the ball around so that it eventually gets to a shooter. It doesn't help that he is one of the only catch and shoot players on the team either. I'm not just blindly defending Cat here. My own observations from watching the game were that Cat was playing within the flow of the offense and moving the ball around.

    Think about this:

Cat shoots the ball an average of 15 times a game, gets about 4 FT's a game, commits about 2 TO's a game and plays almost 42 minutes a game. (These are not criticisms but illustrates how involved he is in the offense).

He "touches" the ball the majority of the offensive sets the Rockets run.

Also, he can penetrate and plays a face up game.

Im not saying Cat was the reason we lost that game, but c'mon, maybe, just maybe he can create a few more easy opportunities for his teammates.
