Strickland is garbage. He needs to quit! I hated how Tim Legler and Steve Jones kept going on how Strickland is going to be such an asset to this team with Sura gone. Bullsh!t!
Yeah, losing the way they did tonight was probably a blessing in disguise. Now they have to do everything in their power to bring in a point guard who can actually advance the ball to midcourt. Hell, you could pluck a scrub out of the NBDL who could do more than Rod Strickland.
Flame me if you want, but IF Bobs back is ONLY as bad as they say.. I would hold off for a trade for a PG we have Cward do to come off the IL SOMETIME and BOB will be back... I dont want to see us get in a bind and bring in some other crap contract I.E-SPOON & MO.. Now if we can move one of them and someone else minus a 1st round pick I would do it for a good 4... DONT MAKE A RUSH TO TRADE FOR A POINT!!! Edit- I wouldnt play Rod anymore... that's for sure..
Da-Glyde, I understand where you are coming from with taking on another bad contract. The only prob with this scenario is that there is no happy ending. Being a young person with a bad back is one thing, but being someone's Sura age and also going thru a back surgery is not good at all. Once you start having back problems they don't get better they only get worst. So it would be wise for the Rockets to start looking for a plan "c" now, because plan "b" is not working at this point. They have no choice but to trade for a PG if they are serious about contending this year. I just hope we dont give up too much for a PG.
something must be done. Keep the pic. But something must be done. I still have the same dream over and over... Mo Taylor for Moochie... would wake up shaking and crying... now I don't shake and cry anymore... I go "hmm." something must be done.
Strickland and Barrett won't cut it, I don't see us having much of a choice if we want to trade or not. I hope CD pulls a miracle deal tomorrow.
So officially, what time does the trade deadline expire? I hope something is in the works, and that the lack of Sura these past two games doesn't expose our desperation.
I believe the Rockets will make a push for GP. But honestly, I just don't see what the Rockets have to offer, to anybody. I mean, Mo-T has a bloated contract, and everybody else doesn't really have trade value. T-Mac, Yao, and Sura are untradeable. Howard is starting to pick it up. Nobody wants anybody else we have, cept for maybe Deke. His contract comes off the books I believe this summer, but if we get rid of Deke, then our front line is seriously depleted, as if it wasn't already.
I was also thinking of Payton, but today's Boston Herald reports that the Celts are likely to trade Jiri Welsch. He can play three positions, shoot, and handle the ball OK. He'd make a decent fill in for Sura, and then be a good backup swingman when Sura comes back. We could probably get him for the TE (I haven't checked his salary); however, as I said before, I don't think the Rockets will use the TE....
Yes, thank you Tony Parker. You don't know how grateful I am that you embarrassed Strickland and Barrett the way you did last night. Now all I need is for Mike James to hit a playoff series winning 3 against the Spurs.
