Here's the link: Option 1: USA v. the World Kobe KG LeBron Kidd Howard against Yao Dirk Nash Gasol and Manu Option 2: Voters pick 30 players, the top two draft their own teams. Both options sound like awesome ideas. Maybe they should rotate each year to something different, just to keep the old format in some sort of regularity. What about 3-on-3 make it-take it streetball style?
THe first one has been common idea. The second one not so much. Here are some other ones: In the years before World Championship or the Olympics: 1) Let the USA team play a game against the leagues top all-stars who are not playing in the Olympics or not playing for team USA. 2) Let the defending world Champion play against the league's all-stars, this was the old NFL format of pro-bowl.....the league's all stars who play the NFL champion. If this was the NFL and if the Patriots won the Super Bowl, we could see them go up against the league's best players. 3) Veteran All-Stars vs. NBA Young All-Stars - Let all of the players under 25 or 26 go up against the players over that age. 4) "Best" High School Players vs. "Best" College Players - A team high school drafted players go up against former college player of the years.
How about we bring back HORSE back into the All-Star festivities. Seriously. Or, other common basketball games like 21 or Around the World?? That would be awesome.
USA vs The World? With NBA rules? USA=NBA right? VS all other leagues? With NBA rules?! The score would be USA 165 to world 18. Thats the stupidest idea I have ever heard in my life. The all-star game is fine. Maybe if it held some kind of incentive to win, for example the conference that wins gets to keep the all-star game in their conference the following season. Oh nevermind. I thought option 1 was world and... option 2 was VS foreign NBA players. I am dumb. USA would still win.
During All Star Saturday, I'd like to see the "All 12th Man Garbage Time Game" sponsored by Hefty. Jack Haley and Mark Madsen can be honorary coaches.
I would definitely be interested in watching a 3 on 3 half court tournament. They need to change it up. It's pretty lame right now.
Heaven help us if that comes to fruition. I can see it now: Sina: "Yao's snub of T-Mac for Butler with final pick no surprise. Animosity brewing for years." - 568 replies
