Wii 'Nintendo Channel' and Download Service (WiiWare) are up.

So, the Wii is getting an XBOX Live/PSN type download service called WiiWare that just went up. So, too, did the 'Nintendo Channel' which is basically videos and trailers for upcoming games.

One nice thing about the Nintendo Channel is that if you have a DS in the house, you can download demos of DS games straight to it from the Wii.

WiiWare will supposedly be original games for purchase like Live and PSN have available. This is the launch list:

LostWinds
Final Fantasy CC: My Life As A King
Pop
Defend Your Castle
VIP Casino: BlackJack
TV Show King

It already sounds as though LostWinds is really, really good. (Platforming). I'm thinking about trying out the Final Fantasy game, which is more of a 'simcity' type game.

Anyone try any of this stuff yet?

I went ahead and bought LostWinds. For what it is, it's very well done. Definitely have to like platformer/adventure type games, but it's solid.

Still trying to decide whether to drop for that Final Fantasy...
