At minimum we should require Jermaine O'neil & Perkins as a throw away. We do not need another guy like McKey. Is Vescey right? It doesn't make sense, however you never know these days.......... ------------------
Jermaine O'Neal for Hakeem? I got it, the Pacers are going to trade one of the league's best young talents and a potential superstar for a 38 year old center. I like Hakeem and I want him back, but I don't think any Hakeem fan in the league is delusional enough to give Jermaine O'Neal for him. ------------------ Draftsource.net-- the premier source for draft info. Okay then Cat, Answer the question..... What does McKey & Perkins give us???? Another 6-10 forward and a really old 6-9 center that we jettison immediately. Does this mean KT becomes trade bait? Do we now not sign Mo T? Could this finally push the trade with Chicago? ------------------ [This message has been edited by ROCKET!!! (edited July 20, 2001).]
I agree totally, we are tanking the season by accepting those players. I would rather see us go after Marc Jackson, who could help with rebounding and post defense, when Mo Taylor and Kelvin Cato decide not to rebound or play defense, which will happen 20 minutes out of the 25 minutes they give us each night. ------------------ Let go and let GOD!
Perkins wouldn't be a bad addition for a year, and McKey's contract runs out after next year. I'm not saying we should go after them-- but if it was one of our only options I'd take Perkins and sit McKey on IR for the year while his contract expires. They aren't very good sign and trade wise, but I'd try to stay realistic. If the Rockets asked for Jermaine O'Neal for Hakeem, the Pacers would laugh and hang up the phone. ------------------ Draftsource.net-- the premier source for draft info. uh uh... the season is just so doomed if we don't acquire a mediocre one-year-wonder as opposed to lousy veterans at C. Yeah... right. Houston's going to make the playoffs regardless of the C position. I don't think Hakeem's more than a couple of games better than a Collier/Cato platoon. ------------------ Clutchcity.net... source for all your Rockets, Astros, political, music, humor, and Gordita news.
Okay.... Lets just pull back and analyze this.... Perkins is not guaranteed...he is gone post trade. McKey stays bc of the 60 days trade period. Sign Mo T. Trade bait.... Cato Williams Collier KT We need a 5. Who do we want? MJ is still available. We could sign him outright for $5mil per or a sign and trade. How do we make it happen? Any thoughts? Just some thoughts, not a dreamcast.... S&T MJ to Rocks Rocks send Cato, Williams & KT to Chicago Chicago sends Miller to GS and Curry to Rocks or S&T MJ for Williams outright GS gains $5 mil in cap space next year. Rocks feel zero cap pain with trade. Hell, I don't know..... ------------------
Here's a thought: if the Bulls give up Eddy Curry and Brad Miller for Kelvin Cato, Kenny Thomas, and Walt Williams they are officially the biggest morons in the history of sports. ------------------ Draftsource.net-- the premier source for draft info. But, if you don't really want to sell your car, what do you do? Ask for TWICE the value, right? And please, no more "Marc Jackson is the MAN" posts. He is a role playing C who had decent (not great, not even good) #s on a terrible team. Fact is, I'd be just as willing to bring Venson Hamilton in as I would Marc Jackson (he'd be cheaper). Maybe Venson can catch "lightning in a bottle" next year just as Jackson did this past season. ------------------
S&T Hakeem, and toss in Cato!!!!!! ------------------ In the end there will be no judges...only witnesses to my greatness.
Cat, no doubt and your point is??????? I'm just playing around. This whole thing sucks. What could we possibly do with McKey and Perkins? I just don't see the point. Maybe I'm missing something. No way we do this without a third team to take McKey and give us something we need. Why would we sacrifice out cap room losse Hakeem and the majority of our other FAs to do this? Signing Hakeem and our FAs is difficult enough as it is. We don't owe Hakeem destroying the future of our team. We need Mo T, Langhi and Mooch as well as SA and Bull. This trade would vitually make that impossible. ------------------
Curly, You know, that is not a bad idea. However, we still need a third team to take McKey and give us something in return. With Hakeem and Cato you are talking about $15 mil in salary. How does indy swing that? ------------------
And please, no more "Marc Jackson is the MAN" posts. He is a role playing C who had decent (not great, not even good) #s on a terrible team. You don't consider 16 points and 10 rebounds as good numbers for a starting center in the NBA? For centers these days, that isn't good. It's great. ------------------ Draftsource.net-- the premier source for draft info. Profiles, rankings, mock drafts, and more! The Mo Taylor Fan Site
Wed will not get equal value in retun for Dream. He is old and it is a S&T so don't expect anything good. McKey is a decent player. Yeah he does create a glut at the 3 but he is a better all around player than Walt and is more experienced than Langhi, or eithe rof the 2 rookies. He could contribute for us and help us groom the rookies for next year. As someone else stated he is a FA next year so we would only use him for a year unless he fit hear really well. Perkins is old, but he would be our #1 center. He is not good but he can shoot the ball. What a horrible rotation of Perkins/Collier/Cato. None of them are good, but hey they have 18 fouls to throw at Shaq.
What is Indy's cap space? Could we get another team involved that would give us a back up 2 or 5 for McKey? We are solid at 1, 3 & 4. ------------------ [This message has been edited by ROCKET!!! (edited July 20, 2001).]
thecat: 16 and 10 for a few games on an awful team that can't shoot *yawn* I do agree with you that Jackson has a pretty nice shot for a big guy. ------------------ Clutchcity.net... source for all your Rockets, Astros, political, music, humor, and Gordita news.
Haven, I would do a S&T MJ for Williams in a heart beat! We solve several problems in one stroke with that move. ------------------
Wait a minute, There may be some logic in this... If Langhi moves to the 2 spot McKey is our 3 starter until TMo is ready We do not need to resign SA If we jettison Perkins, we can resign Mo T, Mooch, Langhi and Bull. This should work within the cap. Add a S&T Jackson for Williams MJ/Cato/Collier Mo T/EG/KT McKey/TMo/Bull Cat/Langhi SF/Mooch McKey and Bull are gone in a year ------------------
The Derrick McKey of today is not the one of 5 years ago. There's no way we'd start McKey over Griffin, Morris, and Langhi. ------------------ Draftsource.net-- the premier source for draft info. Profiles, rankings, mock drafts, and more! The Mo Taylor Fan Site
Why don't we ask for Bender/Best and Perkins. This way we don't need any of Fegan's players. No Hakeem/SA/Mooch ------------------
