Why would we waive Dream?

I'm sorry, I don't get it. Dream says he wants what's best for the Rockets. I love the guy, and I believe him. He wants to be traded or waived, but he just wants what's best for the team.

I understand that he has trade value because he is still one of the better centers in the game, and they are hard to find, even if they get injured some of the time. I know there are teams who'd love to get under the cap. There are some teams for whom he would make a huge difference in the playoff. So, Houston can get something in return for Dream. That makes sense.

I understand that his contract ends this year, and we would then have cap relief to pursue Webber or Mo or whomever.

What I don't understand is why would we waive him NOW? Just so he can get with another team that has a chance at a championship? WHY? For PR reasons, because we like Dream and want whats best for him?

Jeez, he's getting 16.5 million dollars to play. Will he give that back to us, if we waive him? NO. So, I don't get it.

This has to be a PR play to position the fans for a trade that is already in the works, or already agreed upon. Otherwise, it makes absolutely no sense.

    That's the problem.

Now you're getting it. For all your acuity, Sherlock, you need to connect that Hakeem is the one making the PR play. Hakeem wants out. He doesn't want to look like an a**hole.

    Elementary.

The Rockets should waive Hakeem, but only after the season and only if he does not retire.

Some of you guys are missing the point. Houston didn't just get up one day and say they wanted to waive Dream, DREAM wants to be waived! The Rockets don't want to do that, if they did they would have done it already. You ask how would waiving Hakeem help our team? Ask Dream taht question because he's the one who seems to think that waiving him would be best for the team, not the Rockets.
