Why would the Rockets even consider picking an unproven player like Ming?!

I will go on record and say "Picking Ming as the 1st pick will be one of the worst picks in Rockets history. Rudy and Carrol Dawson will be fired. A new day will dawn for Rockets basketball.

Jeff, Of course this is a place to post your comments but your on a whole different topic than what I wrote. If you are gonna let posters continue to make petty comments by trying to insult me on this board without doing anything about it than I will do the same but 10 times as worse. When posters have to revert to weak insults which have no affect on me than they know I am right.

I guess some are just slow learners and I'm not talking about europeans.

You would not do that for a long time - just a guess.

Now now, when I see a euro that can play GOOD (there's the keyword) defense, I'll retract my statement. So far I'm sittin pretty.

I know Ming may be great, but I still want Brand and Curry with a SF pick more.

Gasol is a solid defender, very nice. NYKRule is simply wrong.

However, as a stereotype, he is right. I do think that the NBA is a league of defense. And the Euro's don't show up with defensive fundamentals, as a stereotype. Actually, they really suck at it. I'm getting tired of hearing about this fundamental stuff just because Euro's offenses pass the ball around the horn and do predicatable (and often time consuming) picks and screens, and end up shooting 3s, because few can penetrate except for the point guards. The fundamental thing is overhyped versus the fundamentals of the stars in THIS league.

Look at the rookie's of the year in the past 15 years, and add Kobe and McGrady to that group, and read the stuff about Lebron James. Look at the ALL-NBA teams. Vince and Francis suck at fundamentals and have no defense, but the majority of difference-makers in the NBA have superior fundamentals, at earlier ages, than Europeans.

Nowitski is not better than Kevin McHale was, until he shows up with some understanding of beating double teams with passing or McHale's 1001 headfakes/moves and shows up with McHales defense. McHale was the complete package (albeit a blackhole), Nowitski is not. He is merely a scorer who can't beat double teams in crunch time.

    I wonder why.

btw: Lewis. Playing against mature 30 yr olds and ex-NBA players is better competition than Rik Smits had at Marist and David Robinson at Navy. Yeah, that Patriot League is really tough. Besides, some people only need to see someone play to scout them. They don't need stats like you do, apparently.

    21 years hold, man.
