The question is based on the fact most would not get to show any offensive creativity and have to change/play within a strict a offensive system and not really have a chance to show any talents that might get them bigger money and more play time down the road. This is a problem, Houston...

I think, as a factor in free agent signings, style of play ranks way way below 1) money 2) location 3) potential to win. I mean, way way way below. And the other side of that is, a good coach (like Van Gundy) would adjust his game plan with the addition of another talented offensive player.

No state tax is the best reason I can think of.

You are a great. This place would be **** without your repetitive b****ing about Jeff Van Gundy. I'm really loving you around here. Theres nothing like a never ending dose of b****ing during a period when the Rockets have won 3 out of 4 and have just had their most impressive victory of the season. You are the man. Whats it feel like to not be able to enjoy a Rockets victory because of a personal dislike for the coach. That has to be great - to root for them to fail because you hate the coach. Sounds like you should be promoted to vice president of the I Hate the Jeff Van Gundy Fan Club. maybe one day get Rocket Rich will let you get his coffe for him.

When shaq retires, we'll have the best center in the league and you have to have a good big man to win championships unless you are on Michael Jordan's team during his prime.

Why would any one want to sign in...

    * UTA - Harpring did. Miller thought about before signing w DEN.
    * TOR - Weather, sharing shots with Carter, Rose, higher taxes in Canada.
    * PHI - 1 more FGA/g than HOU and 33% of those taken by Iverson. Didn't stop Kenny Thomas.
*DET - 2 more FGA's/ game than HOU. Why work for a task master like Larry Brown?
    * SA - Seems ideal...too bad I'm a PG (or SG or SF) and they are already 2 deep.
    * LAC - Yeah, right.
    * LAL - What do you mean Payton already took the entire MLE?
    * PHX - Man, I love this weather...I better not get too close to my teammates though, they've had 59 different players here in 5 years.
    * DEN - Yeah, that's the ticket...I can backup Miller and Boykins...can't wait to meet with Kiki and see those championship trophies in his office. Man, I sure am glad they take 8 more FGA's/g than Houston...maybe I'll even get a few myself.

No need to panic just because Ward didn't sign with Houston. He got a better deal from the defending champions.

You are even better. Having math problems... It's 4-5.

JVG isn't the point. It's the free agent diss itself. A lot of that will be based on the perceived opportunities.

I agree, the tax issue counts big. especially against Canada (see SF)

You can't enjoy the victory because of a post about free agents coming here.... Yao, is that you? Toughen up son. If you are going to like your Knickets at least have the thick skin of a Knickets fan.

Not liking JVG doesn't make me any less a fan than you. Even Clutch stated they all hate him IN THE ORG! Does that mean they aren't trying or enjoying it when they win  :p

Do you get coffee for someone? I don't even know what that means.....

I think multiple choice would be the best way to approach this:

    a) The loving personality of the head coach
    b) The way the offense flows so effortlessly and seamlessly
    c) The intense playoff like atmosphere of a packed arena every night
    d) The security of a six year contract extension if the free agent plays OK

Winning. It won't attract your 3rd-4th year player but it will get veterans to come here. Van Gundy is in the Riley-mode but without the drill seargent mentality. He's not a player's coach, meaning no favoritism. Instead, he's a veteran's coach where the only reason for playing the game is to win. I think that's why we got Pike and JJ (of course, the money had to be there otherwise why would he leave Sac). Plus, you are seeing it all over the NBA: if your team has a shot at the championship, it gets its pick of veterans. Hopefully, Van Gundy can mold this bunch into a contender.

If you are trying to rip Van Gundy, I think you should ask yourself the number of free agents who left New York under his regime. I don't remember the number of significant players leaving being that high.

Sorry for another post, I'm sure JVG hating will come out somewhere in it... ;)

I wanted to bring up how the T-Wolves have been able to sign so many minimum players. The Rox should look towards their success in doing that as a way to entice players here. The winning probably is more key, and KG of course, but SF and Yao should be an enticement along with the no tax issue....

Yup. We will be signing FA's that want to win. I guarantee it. They sure ain't gonna be signing here so they don't have to play D and can jack up shots on a whim. So, we don't have to worry about the slackers signing here. Van Gundy won't play anybody that ain't putting in the work on the defensive end and is willing to play the team game. So, we won't take unnecessary risks on FA's except pieces that will fit into this team or obvious superstars that we can build around that have already proven themself on that level.

From what I hear when I watch the Games the Rockets have problems with getting the ball passed to the open man. If this is true then a decent Free Agent might be put off coming to the Rockets, thinking that he might not get the ball and that Rockets dont play the Team Game?

If to the person everyone in the Rockets ORG hates JVG, I have serious doubts that he permeates (dominates?) the very essence of their every spoken word...winning or not.
