Only 7 western teams are above .500 ; 10 teams in the east are above .500 . For the past years , western teams winning records were usually better than eastern . And this year , by December 3rd, the west overall winning record is 137- 143 , the east is 143-137 . And if Warriors isn't in the west...
Portland rebuilding, Clippers and Rockets rough start, Pelicans hit with injuries and just recently got their full lineup but seems like their chemistry is way off and so is their play, add that Phoenix often was at .500 or above and you have bunch of teams that declined for obvious reasons or just over achieved.
If the Warriors weren't in the west, then other teams in the west would win more games and the teams in the east would lose.
Games against your own conference don't matter because either way it's still a win for the west. If the Warriors were in the east, when they played western conference teams they'd take away wins from them and add them to the east.
GS is beating everyone Rox, Clippers, and Grizz struggling Bottom teams have more talent than usual Eastern teams have improved It's just things leveling out. It wasn't going to last forever.
Well the East has caught up. But of the playoff teams from the west last year, the Rockets, Clippers, Grizzlies, Trailblazers, and Pelicans have all had poor, not to say disastrous, starts. The Trailblazers are rebuilding, but I think the others all conceded, at least subconsciously, that they couldn't compete with Golden State and they didn't work hard during the summer and they haven't entered the season with any kind of sense of mission. They want to win a championship, but they know they aren't going to and the focus just isn't there. If Golden State gets some injuries or San Antonio or one of the eastern teams beats the living hell out of them, that will change. But the latter is unlikely and the former is certainly not to be wished for. It seems like the teams who have been building for a championship in the west have lost all heart, except of course Golden State and San Antonio. But it's a long season. Right now it looks like there are only two teams that are going to make the playoffs in the west, but the rules forbid that that actually happens. Oh wait. I forgot the Thunder because they were a lottery team last year. They're going to step up. Barring injury.
havent watched too many games outside of the rockets, so idk if its east is catching up or else. but if its indeed the east is catching up, i wont be surprised. its about time. i watched just about every playoff game last yr. atlanta, washington, chicago, boston, or even the bucks were pretty impressive. and, had the cavs not had the injuries in the finals, they very well could have won it all.
The obvious and clear answer is, "it's all Harden's fault" There are many factors... - LMA to SA... Spurs would still have a similar record without him. Blazers record would be much better. - East's improvement... Knicks rookie, PG's return, ORL-BOS-DET-CHA have all improved. WAS-MIL have fallen off, but that's 2 teams vs 4 that improved - Harden... yes, he's the main blame for the Rockets current state - NO's injuries - Many "good" Western teams struggling. This is the most surprising factor. The West will still finish better overall due to my last factor. Highly doubtful all those teams struggle all season. See post #6
That's true with regard to total records for inter-conference play. But aren't we also talking about how many .500 teams there are in each conference. That can indeed be skewed by one team that can't win in the East and one team that can't lose in the West. Distribution of wins/loss is affected. right?
the basketball gods have finally listened to the cries of the leastern conference and decided to balance both sides the curry d*** sucking fest must continue this season so they put a screeching halt to the rockets
I see your point. Just consider PHI was just as bad last season. At this time last year, they also had 1 or 2 wins.
And the West has the Lakers to feast upon. They only have like 2 wins more than Philly anyway. The East has many more middle ground teams than the West right now.
