The guy is instant offense... and regardless what anyone says, he is not a bad defender. He needs to get more minutes .. RA needs to go with the hot hand like RUDY..
Because he doesn't make good decisions either. 4/8 for 8 points isn't eye dropping. No rebounds, no assists, no steals, no blocks, plust terrible defense shouldn't even get him him 15 minutes, if you ask me. Too bad our backcourt is just THAT WEAK.
i really think that von has the determination to deliver in crunch time...saying that he doesn't make good decisions is just being subjective...look at ron or AB!! honestly, i think RA needs to put Von in for more PT; he can make something happen...
Von >>>> Ron, if you think Ron has spectacular D you are an idiot, also he shoots horrible shots, and plays stupid
you might be right, but with our three NO BRAIN heads monster( Von, AB, Ron) on our team(with total bball IQ less than 100, or half of KB's), it's really amazing to see us get out of the first round.
We'd just get another AB if Von was in there at crunch time. Dude is a shoot first player AND also has crappy shot selection. What in the past couple of games gives you the idea that he'd do much better?
He doesn't get more touches because Adelman is a r****d. He doesn't seem to realize that when he puts in Brooks and Artest late, the offensive movement dies. Yao doesn't get the ball. Bad shots and turnovers result. Thus the Rockets lose 4th quarter leads. Look at the game log from tonight. The moment he pulled Wafer and Landry for Artest and Brooks, it was devastation for the Rockets.
When Ron gets subbed in for Battier, Von Wafer should still be the second option when Yao cant get in position. Wafer is in for the offense and Artest should be the main defender and 3rd option. Let Wafer penetrate and create for Artest instead of Artest trying to create for everyone else resulting in a bad shot or turnover. When Battier comes in and Yao cant get position...Artest should be the second option along with Brooks. It's frustrating to see the offense flow smoothly through Wafer then Artest slowing down everytime he's subbed in for Battier. Use Artest for defense not offense until Battier is subbed for Wafer.
Von has a lot of talent on the offensive side of the ball, if he could also just learn to pass a bit. On defense, he's a huge liability. Those who say he should start and guard Roy, your out of your mind. I love wafer as much as the next guy, but what he gives you on the offensive side, he gives up on the defensive side as well.
but honestly, seeing von wide open on a series of plays upset me a little... i really think RA needs to switch up the rotation to where he gets more time...
Because it's RA's strategy, Let Brooks or Artest drive for 15 secondes, and then a jump shot or a layup blocked, finally Yao or Von shot the ball with five seconds left.
Hopefully you were just being sarctisitc, because if you truly believe in the time out RA said "Artest dribble for a while then shoot", your dumber than your post made you out to be.
The right lineup in clutch time is: YAO SCOLA BATTIER WAFER LOWRY. Period. The only changes that could be entertained, and their situations: Chuck Hayes(on defensive side only, if and when timeouts will be called and offensive player can be put back in). Landry (a good option for length/athleticism for defending 4s, but Scola is simply better) Artest (ONLY when needing desperation 3 or steal at end of game. Should almost never be in game in final 6 minutes). Brooks (ONLY when needing desperation 3 at end of game, should almost never be in game in final 6 minutes). Get Yao the ball. Get Wafer the ball. Period. Aggressively attack the middle. Use Scola and Battier to set screens and picks, to get backdoor layups, and to take spot up shots. Simply do what works for the Rockets, and don't put in guys because they are your starters. RIDE THE HOT HANDS.
Shooting 50% is fine. But that's not nearly enough to compensate no rebounds, no assists, no steals plus bad defense.
