If Cato plus the #9th pick is so tempting and such a good deal, why don't the Rockets just keep Them. I'll tell you why they will, because this deal won't budge anyone from giving even fair market value, (well what you rocket guy fans think that it is). Then of course if the Rockets are going to trade for the heck of trading, there are plenty of takers. And get this straight, Rudy doesn't like to get violated when it comes to basketball business. If a trade does come about, its not going to be blockbuster like the Steve Deal. But, looking back, that was a more than fair trade even if it was straight up Dickerson for Francis. Currently there are three super calibur players on the Rockets. Francis which is the Franchise, Mobley who is a free agent, and Anderson who is in extremley good terms with Rudy after taking less money to play for Houston. So, Cato, Williams, Rogers, Thomas, Drew, the 9th pick, Bullard, and the 4.5 million dollar exception are left to deal with some trade. I'm not adding Hakeems name for pure respect to the guy!! Come on, who can you get. You can get some equally rated players or some guys who are just not welcomed on their teams. That's it, that it. And that's the truth. Thts ma storaee an um stckng 2 et!!!!!!!!! ------------------
This may sound weird but I really dont think we need to trade. Why mess up the chemistry by trading away players? I say lets give cato another chance, lets give bryce another chance, actually bryce is outta here. I think staying at the 9th pick we can pick up a decent player. At first I didnt like Mike Miller, probably because of watching him choke some games but a good friend of mine has all the tapes of florida taped. I went over his house recently and watched Mike Millers game closely. He is a really nice player, the guy can play. So maybe staying at the 9th spot is not that bad unless a good deal comes up and we could get martin, then ok lets deal. ------------------ President of the Moochie Norris FAN CLUB
Well Francis3 if you've seen Miller play and you liked what you saw, then that just gives you such a better argument to draft Miller. I've not see too much of Miller, I've commented on mostly hear say from very reliable sources and then you guys (hardy har har). Drew is gone!! And he is gone for no other reason than the fact that Drew is not the player he was when he made his one claim to fame. But, Drew did show something this past season, when he was starting. I can see a current playoff team making a bid for Drew but that's it (for a trade pick or something). Oh, by the way if Drew is not gone by this season, he isn't signing with this team again. Cato can play defense, well 20% of the time if that, but he did have some good games. 20pts. and 20 rebounds or something like that in one game. ALLLLL WE ARE SAAAAYIIING, IS GIVE CATOOOO A CHANCE!! [(sing it again) (you know you sang it) (Do the encore)] CUS ALLLLL WE ARE SAAAAAYIIING, IS GIVE CATO A CHANCE!!! But, this is the last year Cato has to demonstrate beyond his potential and actually elevate his game over potential. Will it happen, uhmmmm? That's why someone may make a pitch to acquire him and that's also why we play the games. Too bad Foresight isn't as clear as hindsight! Cato at this point has as much potential as Perysbillia (ah something like that) ------------------
Cato will probably get another chance but if he doesnt impress rudy he will get traded soon before the trading deadline next year. I think Catos problem is that he is just lazy. The guy can become like Theo Ratliff if he trys but he doesnt. I think Drew should be traded for a pick and I dont care what pick, I would prefer around beginning of second round so we can draft PORTER and with the 38th pick we select some big guy like Jabari Smith if he is there. I really think Porter can fit this team well, I would like to draft him. ------------------ President of the Moochie Norris FAN CLUB
I am in total agreement. I really would like to see us keep Cato. I, as well as RocketsPimp, heard during the season that Cato would be working hard on his offensive game this summer with CD. While I have not heard any confirmation yet as to whether this is actually happening, if Cato can just improve to a 12 point, 10 rebound, and 2 or 3 block per night player, that's all we need him to do in our guard oriented offense. If anyone has heard about Cato's current summer status, please let me know. As for the rest of our team, I would definitely like to keep Francis, keep Anderson, and re-sign Mobley. Those 3 guys are definites in my book along with Cato(unless we can get Duncan). The only other player that I would be sad to see go would be KennyT. He is such a hard worker. I would not be averse to seeing anyone else or a draft pick get traded, especially if it means we can get a PF or a big SF(Rashard. Little hope though.) I am just really behind the idea that we need to not pick up any big, slow, gimp centers that will bog our team down. I still had a great time watching the Rockets play last year despite the losses because of the simple fact that they were exciting to watch, made some unbelievable plays, and showed lots of enthusiasm on the court. So, I hope that we stand pat and maybe someone similar to Rashard(Miles) will fall in our laps. ------------------ "You couldn't have stuck a pin up his @#! with a jackhammer. Yeah, I'd say he was pretty tight." -- Barkley on Pheonix Sun Chris Carr(...I think) after he missed a game winning free-throw.
I also think Cato should be kept. If he works hard this offseason he has the potential to play like he did in the preseason. ------------------ THE DEAN HAS WRITTEN
Give Cato a chance. If some other team gives him that chance i think his game will elevate and that's where WE start regreting that we traded him.....as usual. ------------------ Dream's Team!
They should make some kind of trade to take advantage of the trade exemption. They need to firm up the talent on the team. Since they are already to the limit, the only way to do that is the trade exemption -- probably to help another team free up cap space. They could deffinitely use the extra $4.5 mil worth of talent. Considering how these young players improved over the course of the past year, a little more help will turn them into a pretty good team. ------------------ Stay Cool...
