When you read down the posts, it seems everyone wants to trade KT for what ever they can get. I hope CD and Rudy think more of him then most the poster seem to. He came in and played better then any of us would have thought last year, due to injuries. He doesn't demand the ball and does what he can to help the team. Everyone seems to want another player that has to have the ball, we can only have so many of that type and we have our quota now. I would think of KT as one of our core group that will only get better. ------------------
Most likely KT is in trade offers because in many cases you have to give a big man to get a deal done. Kenny and Cato are our two big men with legit trade value. KT is more expendable IMO than Cato because: 1) Cato's contract is too large 2) It is MUCH easier to replace a power forward (KT) in the free agent or trade market than to replace a center (Cato) Centers are very hard to come by these days, and even though KT may have a little more talent than Kelvin, size matters. Who would you put at center? ------------------ Cheaters never win. Unless you play for LA that is.
I think that trading Thomas is a good idea for a couple of reasons. 1) He has value right now 2) We need a big 4 to set screens and hit the boards 3) It seems that at times KT fell in love with the long ball Beyond that, if we can move up by trading him than I think Muoneke is comparable in the 2nd round if we chose him. ------------------
UT Baller, have you seen Thomas play? it's gonna be hard to find a wider or heavier body to set screens. He's also probably the team's best rebounder. He hustles a lot and is our best low post player as well. I say give him a chance. As for the 3's, he did kinda fall in love with em, but i think that stage will pass. Anyway, i doubt we could find a person who is that much better than Kenny. ------------------ Hakeem, Hasaw, Haconquered.
He's also probably the team's best rebounder. That's what the Rockets problem is. There's a big problem when your best rebounder averages less than 6.5 a game. ------------------ Rockets fans wanted at hoopsboards.com Draft Chat, NBA Chat, Team Chat, and more!
I hope KT is kept, but if he is the cost to get someone like Croshere or B. Grant, then so be it. If KT is traded it better be for a big man. And the Rockets better draft a PF to take his spot on the bench too. ------------------ I have a special purpose.
The only way I trade KT at this point is if the Rockets can get Croshere from Indiana. That guy is exactly what the Rockets need. I can see the team getting behind him and kicking some major ass! ------------------ We need some meat in the post!
I really dont think Kenny will be a rocket for a long time. If a trade happens most likely KT will be in it. Kt has pretty good value and he is young. Kenny is not starter material, he is a good bench player. We need a starter material power forward that can bang bang with the big boys. ------------------ President of the Moochie Norris FAN CLUB
I agree with Francis3. He's probably our most tradeable commodity, because Hakeem, Francis, Mobley, and Shandon are untouchable. Cato is somewhat near untouchable, as we'd HAVE to get a center in return. ------------------ Rockets fans wanted at hoopsboards.com Draft Chat, NBA Chat, Team Chat, and more!
I asked this in another thread and people probably discussed it before...why can't Kenny T. play SF? He would be a versatile SF, good rebounder who can also occasionally shoot a three.
I'd never trade KT. I think he has the potential to be a very good PF. ------------------ I AM SPARTACUS
I personally think he can play the SF position , I don't quite understand why some of you are so willing and so quick to get rid of KT , Rudy T. himself said that he likes our young nucleus (KT is included) and they will not go anywhere SO stop talking all this KT stuff , he isn't going anywhere . ------------------ It's all about marketing !
why can't Kenny T. play SF? Can you imagine him trying to guard quicker more athletic SFs? The last thing the Rockets need is another defensive mismatch. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
Why trade KT ? ? At times his feet do not leave the floor. At times his hustle is lacking. He is undersized in the paint. ------------------ We would like to get rookie Francis on the break for some easy scoops in the first quarter...
Kenny may be undersized in some match ups but so far he seemed to hold his ground and play impressive. At 6-8 260 he isn't exactely being beaten in the post, but his smaller frame benefits the Rockets as it enables him to run with the rest of the team. ------------------ I AM SPARTACUS
"I'd never trade KT." Thats a pretty bold statement. I don't really want to trade KT because he is one of my favorite Rockets players. I think he had a really good season and exceeded ALL expectations, but he isn't untouchable. I'd trade KT in a heartbeat if we could get Croshere! ------------------ We need some meat in the post!
Why trade Kenny Thomas? He can play small forward for the Rockets next year? He can post up the thinner small forwards and get easy points. Thomas can average 16 points per game. Another reason why the Rockets should keep Kenny Thomas is he can set picks for the guards(Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, Bryce Drew and Moochie Norris) ------------------
NO WAY you trade KT, unless it makes us MUCH better. This guy was THE MAN at every other stop in his life. He just needs to learn to work within the system better. He is big, mobile and has excellent footwork, and is only a rookie. Plus, he is the BEST passer on the Rockets. DaDakota ------------------
Thomas is not that good. He is not the best passer on the team, will not average sixteen points-per-game against the league's faster and more athletic SFs, and is only average in comparison to the league's PFs. If Indiana fails to re-sign Rose or Miller, Houston should package Thomas and (Drew or Williams) for Croshere. Croshere -- he would be the ideal SF. ------------------ Forget regrets or life is yours to miss.
