This season will be rough even if we make the playoffs- Some of the blame on JVG, Yao and TMac is justified. But what is not going to change this season (much) is the supporting cast. We are slow on defense (even though the scheme is good) our foot speed on defense is the opposite of quick. We are a terrible rebounding team. We weren't great without Steve and Cato, but we have nothing to make up what we lost in rebounding. We do not have 2 good rebounders on this team. Our role players are getting killed at the 3 pt. line. We need a couple outside shooters in the worst way. We may start winning and playing better, but I don't think the current role players are cutting it. Help! May not come until this next offseason.
This is appearing to be a long year for YnT. But at least them two can advertise their skills on Sports Center to attract new players and new coaches. Sura may make a difference, may speed up this team. Its more vital that YnT perform well together than anything else. Infact, if the Rox end up really bad, YnT will get all the attention and there might be greater impetus on Les and CD to rebuild this team around YnT. My fear is that if the Rox do so-so and make the first round, we would find excuses to keep Van Grumpy and mediocre players. It is sad we are 4-6 with an aging team. Its better to be 4-6 with a young inexperienced team. That means YnT will endure another new team, hopefully younger one next year. The trend seems to be YnT's BIG season will be in 2006-2007 season.
