So in preparation for my first thread, I have arduously studied threads and posts of the past, and will attempt to incorporate my learnings herewith.

    1) The Inflammatory Thread Title TM: Despite often being riddled with obviously uninformed analysis (Yao is better than Dream) and / or insufficiently long historical memories (McGrady was the best Rocket ever), threads which inflame (particularly by attacking fan favorites) and thus elicit passionate responses seem to do well.

    2) The Speculation: This could be a rumor (Morey is going to trade Sergio Lull for Yugoslavian national team captain Someone Lastnameovich), or a suggestion (see mine below) which is the "hook" of the post.

I think we should seriously consider Ian Mahinmi for our backup C slot. (See a post over at http://www.knickerblogger.net/3936/free-agent-bargain-bin.html). Mahinmi led the Toro's (the Spurs D-League affiliate) to the D-League finals a couple seasons ago, and performed well for the Spurs when he got play time. He's 6-11, "an athletic freak" and averaged 22 pts, 11.3 reb, and 1.7 blk per 36 minutes for the Spurs, which, by the way, is the whole point of this post.

    3) The Shout Out: The Shout Out refers to the obligatory mention of one of the board regulars (DD, Clutch, Carl Herrera, Lupe Tortilla -- ok, I made up that last one, but damn can he cook up some fajitas) in the vain hope of imbuing the post with some legitimacy while perhaps enticing said regular to comment on the tread. (This point 3 is, by the way, my Shout Out).

    4) The Lock: As if the moderators require prompting to do their job, or perhaps merely a showing that the poster understand the rules, it is obligatory to end ones post with "lock if posted."

    Lock if posted.

    B-

Would have been a B+ had you put part of your thread title in parentheses or brackets.

Who gave this thread a 1-star? I think it's damn funny and sums up the threads on this board pretty well. :)

I figured I'd at least get points for spelling "arduously" correctly.

    First!

    In Morey We Trust!

    Get 'er Done Morey!

    Weeeeeeee!!!!!

Seriously, though, there is a pretty large sect of Spurs fans that are puzzled as to Ian not playing more. He is, as you stated, an athletic freak. At worst, I think he develops into Nazr Mohammed, which isn't a bad backup center to have. If there is a way to acquire Ian on the cheap, I'd be ALL for it.

Great post, informative, witty, and has a good beat, it would be fun to dance to...I give it an 89.

And I think your idea of Mahinmi might be a good one, is he a free agent?

Mahinimi was cut loose by the Spurs, not something positive on his side of the ledger, especially after the Spurs invested a lot of time and a few bucks on the kid. I'll add that while you aren't Peter Sellers, the OP was amusing. :)

D-league success is no guarantee of NBA success, just ask Mike Harris.

    A few points:

    1) Clearly the Spurs front office have the best information, so the fact that they declined his cheap (~$1Million) option should give anyone pause.
    2) Countering that fact is that they gave us Scola for taking on that one guy's salary plus giving them Greek McGrady. My point is that the Spurs priorities are not necessarily the same as ours, and those mismatches are why trades and RFA's being stolen happen.
    3) DeJuan Blair, despite being "undersized", was a rebounding machine for them off the bench and along with McDyess and Bonner the C spot is pretty full up for them. It probably comes down to how much they think McDyess can give them -- obviously, given McDyess' age, he could retire at some point and they probably would have wished to keep a 6-11 athletic freak on the roster.
